Spotted: Ford Streaming coming as new feature?

I believe Tesla, it's part of the connected features, which charge a fee after a little bit. If it's using the data from the modem, it won't be free at least not forever.

Oh sure, I get that if the modem is involved. I'm just talking about the ability to stream from my phone. Just like Pandora or lots of other apps, where the data from the phone (at least, that's how it works with CarPlay - is the Ford Pandora app using the modem?!)

Pretty sure the Ford "apps" still use your phone's connection.

I was hoping Ford would enable video apps where I could utilize my existing Netfli and Prime subs. But I kinda suspect this is something Ford is going to charge extra for. I don't think I'd pay any amount of money for something like this that would be nice to have but I will seldom use.

The article says you can stream to the system so I don’t see why you can not use any services you currently subscribe to, as long as your device supports streaming.

So far, this is what I've been able to find out about this feature that is coming. It's possible there is more to it, but this is all I have found out so far.

With Ford Streaming, you can stream your favorite music, podcasts, audiobooks (and more) right to your vehicle using intuitive Alexa voice commands – and you can enjoy a variety of available, in-vehicle brain games as well as stay up to date on local and global news with your very own, personalized Flash Briefing. Timing is TBD at the moment

If it's Alexa integration then that's what they Lightning has, too. If you look at F150 Lightning videos you'll see an Alexa icon shortcut at the top of the Sync homescreen. Big whoop.

That's what I'm not sure about. it sounds like that is part of it for sure. But the fact that its in the connected services part of the account, leads me to believe they are going to charge you to use it. Which seems crazy to me. If you use Amazon music and stuff, you're already paying for it, so why would someone want to pay extra to use it in the car.

And what about people like me that use google for stuff, or Apple users? When companies choose one provider for this stuff it always annoys me.

Honestly, I don't leave Apple CarPlay at all while using any of the cars I own. The Ford UI could be a large middle finger with the word "SYNC" tattooed on it and I wouldn't care all that much. As long as my phone connects to the big dumb screen, it's fine.

If it took up the full screen I'd prob be the same way, hopefully we'll all get that up date soon.
