Hi, all! My husband and I are doing research and hoping to purchase a used 2023 Mach E Premium soon. There is one available near us, and we test drove it and it looks like a great car, but it does have the "dealer buyback" star on the history report. The reason provided by the manufacturer is "stalling with pull over safely message."

Does anyone have experience with this? Is it a known issue, something that the dealer would have been able to fix? Are there any specific questions we should ask to ensure it's been resolved before purchasing this particular vehicle?

Thanks so much!

There is no such thing as "stalling".

The message would be either SVS (Service Vehicle Soon) or SSN (Stop Safely Now). The messages would possibly indicate a failure of a few things, most commonly the battery junction box. Your 2023 is not part of the recall, but that doesn't mean they don't fail. The dealership, if they are Ford, can pull the entire history.

If it's not a Ford dealership, providing a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) vehicle with warranty, don't buy it IMO.

As Rick said it could be the High Voltage Junction Box. With the price of these cars used plummeting; I'd just keep looking for one that was not a "buy back".

Shortage of used MMEs in Pacific NW. A '22 GT, 20K miles AWD, 91 kWh battery, $42K, did not sell for $45K. This was the best buy I could find (spent about 10 minutes.)
