I am always a bit cautious of taking door panels etc off as I don't want any rattle
I have posted a couple of times on this forum in different threads how to take the door panels apart with photos from the repair manual and how to add the sound deadening. That was probably two years ago and don’t remember what thread it was in. I can post it agsin if you don’t find it.

What app and phone are you using to measure the noise? A 20 dB drop tells me that there is something wrong with your meter. Decibels are logarithmic so that is an insanely huge reduction.

For fun I measured my Miele vacuum at 3 meters. The medium setting raised the noise floor by about 20 dB.
