Reread the original statement I was commenting on ? I don't believe I made any comments whether solar panels themselves produce pollution.
I actually did read your statement correctly and the example that you use is quite "pedantic" as you implied but is not always true my friend. ?Not to be pedantic (ok, to be pedantic ?) having your own solar doesn’t mean that your EV doesn’t pollute at the source of power generation. Where were all the components sourced from and how was the power at those sources generated? How were those components transported? ?
If I were to purchase a home with an existing Solar System, (because I didn't transport the panels nor produce said panels) I am producing power without polluting and never did pollute. The person that originally bought the panels (in your own little world) did in effect "pollute" but the person that purchased the home after the fact is not. And to just put a fine point on it, the Solar Panels that are in use are not currently polluting either.
If we used your definition of "polluting", it would be impossible to EVER make a statement of not polluting if we were to always use the past people that polluted. Btw, if you eat you can never make the statement that you don't pollute. There is a good chance that something you ate or the utensils that you used, polluted through transportation of said product. Even if you grow your own garden, you are polluting in using your definition.
The only real problem that I see in making statements like that is that it gives the right leaning people that don't believe in Solar generation an excuse for why we should not invest in Solar Technology. Yes, on the technical end you are correct but by said definition (your own words by the way) your statement seems to fit. "Pedantic means "like a pedant," someone who's too concerned with literal accuracy or formality. It's a negative term that implies someone is showing off book learning or trivia, especially in a tiresome way. "
Solar Panels don't pollute. You are speculating on how ALL panels were produced and delivered and you really are guessing.
That is also a "pedantic" statement and I meant for it to be pedantic to prove my point correct. The purchaser of said panels may be totally innocent of polluting. ?
