Stopping while in 1 pedal drive

While in 1 pedal drive does the car detect when there is a car stopped in front of you to slow to a stop? At times it feels like I will plow into the car in front of me if I don't hit the brake but at other times it will slow down quickly to stop at a safe distance. Am I wrong to think the sensors should know when to stop?

You still need to brake the car if you are in 1 pedal drive. Sometimes, when at slower speeds, I can glide to a stop without using the brakes.

I think that's the reason I thought the sensors would detect a car in front while stopping because while using the cruise control it does.

1PD just means that the motor provides regeneration when your foot is off the gas. This has the effect of slowing the car down. It has nothing to do with seeing the car or obstacle in front of you.

It takes practice. I think if you keep at it, 8 months you will have finally got it.

Use the brake when you need to.

I thought I had it. I think I fully grasped 1PD as in stopping Like how I was before (ICE) comfortably well 8-9 months (mostly city driving).

It does a better job sometimes than others. It seems to know where it needs to stop sometimes, but not always. Practice, and cover the brake pedal.

I use 1PD all the time and the sensor has picked up a potential collision a couple of times.

I enabled 1PD and brake hold as soon as I got the car March 1st and I can now come to a full stop almost exactly where I want it 80-90% of the time. Going down an incline though is more difficult. On the rare times I have to use the brake pedal, regen efficiency is almost always 90+%. And yes, I have had the collision alert a couple of times, which is a lot more cautious than I need it to be! "ALERT" "ALERT" "ALERT" and I yell back "Oh shut up. We're fine!"

I do use it and I like it but it doesn't seem consistent to me. At times I feel that it slows down much more quickly then other times. I'm starting to get used to having things "not consistent" with this car such as the doors not always locking when I walk away, and that's what really annoys me. That is 1 of the"must haves" in my car and I assumed it did have it since it was listed on the sticker. I never imagined that I had to research to see if it actually worked. The newer technology features I totally understand but my 2014 Cadillac has been locking every single time since day 1. That's very frustrating

I drive it like riding a motorcycle. On a bike I want to keep rolling as long as possible before putting my feet down. Makes it for a longer deceleration using the motor and usually never touching the brake.

if you are just in 1-p, there is no sensing or auto-braking. You have to judge your own speed, distance, and get a feel for the amount of regen available depending on mode you are in.

if you are in 'adaptive cruise control' sensors are active and will brake you all the way to a stop if the car in front of you stops.

Mine seems to lock consistently as I have horn alert enabled and I always hear it, sometimes longer and farther away from the car than others. One inconsistency I have though is memory seat recall...sometimes the seat only partially moves ahead when I start the car and I have to press the memory recall button to move it completely to my position, and mine is the only profile.
