Due to the FordPass legacy and the wealth of ICE vehicles it needs to support, the dev team chose Carbon and is forced to ride it out on fumes at this point.
Only old farts like us will ever remember what Carbon was and how it enabled us to be where we are today, at least as far as Apple products. And, hmmmā€¦, back when we used the previous version of Cisco for VPN access, the "shared group" was "carbon". It's Carbon all the way down!

I took delivery of my Mach-e just a couple of days ago, and like many of you have been experiencing issues with ford pass. I think it's great that Hybrid2bev started this thread and we can give feedback to Ford, even if it is through back channels. I would like to start by saying that there has been some good progress with the app in the past months and that some issues have been resolved. Thank you Ford, keep those fixes and improvements coming. On my part, I also have issues with PAAK, and hope this is something that can be fixed.

If I look at features I would like to see in the app, (other than bug fixes), I would like to see deeper pre-conditioning and charging options. For example, I would like to have my MME plugged in as often as possible for pre-conditioning, but I don't want it to charge every single time it's plugged in, and I don't want to manage it on a case by case basis. I would love to see an option where we can set a battery level above which the car will not charge, even if plugged in. This way I can plug and pre-condition on AC even if my battery is at 70% without charging it. There would of course have to be an easy way to override this in case we do want to charge. I would also like to see more options for pre-conditioning, heated seats on/off, heated steering wheel on/off, actual cabin temperature in degrees and defrost options.

I love being able to open and close our windows with the FOB and the app, but I do wish we could see in the app if the doors are locked, or if the windows are down. Knowing the issues we are having with PAAK, I am always nervous walking away from my car, and hoping it will lock...

I have not been able to use the Journeys function, as my phone connects via car play. It would be nice get this working.

I also seem to have a disconnect between the Ford pass app map functions and the car Nav system. For me these just don't seem to sync together.

I also have issues with the web vehicle dashboard. It keeps telling me to use Ford pass to finish setting up the vehicle, but the vehicle has been set up...

(This is more car and not app related) For those who are using PAAK, the valet function would need a way to create a pin that not only locks out the valet from the touch screen but gives them door and starting permissions.

These are just my top-of-the-list items, but there have many others in this thread that have already been discussed.

I honestly hope that Ford can use all of our feedback to turn this into a better app.

For those of you who have taken delivery.
Just to set expectations I would not expect any responses but I know feedback is appreciated.
@hybrid2bev If you still passing feedback on

FordPass Trip Routing could benefit greatly from the ability to add at least one waypoint. More would be better. If the app can do this already I've not determined how.

Ability to set two destinations in the app...one ultimate destination & one waypoint...allows round trip route planning. Ultimate destination home. Waypoint Is where you need to go. Particularly helpful if you canā€™t/donā€™t want to charge where you need to go. When you reach grandmotherā€˜s house will you have enough charge to get to a fast charger on the return trip?

The app would also benefit from being able to set an arrival state of charge. Currently the app allows the starting SOC to be set when planning a route. Selecting the arrival SOC would allow you to ensure you have use of the car once when you reach your destination.

Yes, I sent my latest list last week Tuesday (they really like user suggestions and feedback). I already included being able to set multiple destinations.

I'll add setting an arrival SOC to my next list.

The more thought I put into it, the more I think that most of the issues with FordPass come from its being an all around, single gateway app. It might be worthwhile to build a separate app strictly for the Mach-E (or at least BEVā€™s exclusively). Not to be fancy Or exclusionary, but to clean up the interface and work with/for the issues unique to BEVā€™s. We donā€™t need oil change reminders, but it sure would be nice to have a battery health display, or a charging at [rate] display. And ICE vehicles donā€™t need that information, but do have information they need that we donā€™t.

This makes a ton of sense. Call it FordePass or e FordPass but split the completely different propulsion system into its own eco system.

A lot of great ideas in your post. I especially like this one.

In computing, we often refer to these as low- and high-water marks.... Probably named after low and high tide marks for lakes, rivers, etc.

At or below the low water mark, the vehicle should charge.

Once it reaches the high water mark, it should stop charging.

My only real problem is with the PAAK which is very, very slow to connect and perform its functions. I want it to act exactly as if I had the fob in my pocket - no more, no less. I want to walk up with my phone in my pocket and press the drivers door button, I want the door to open, I want to press the Start button ONCE, I do NOT want to see "No Key Detected", I want to put it in gear and go. That is all.

Because I cannot get my iPhone 11 Pro Max to act this way I have been forced to buy a second key fob. I deeply resent this and the Ford person who made this ridiculous decision.

What I know:
1) Android Auto works flawlessly on my Bolt, just plug in
2) I anticipated the Ford Pass/Sync4 problems based on the early MME deliveries -
a) ordered/received a second fob before I took delivery
b) always have a fob with me
3) Android Auto does not work with FordPass/Sync4
a) Android Auto does not work with Bluetooth
b) Bluetooth on, Android Auto has to be off
c) Android Auto on, Bluetooth off
d) cannot have Bluetooth and Android Auto together
4) Bluetooth allows me to access my phone; Android Auto prevents phone usage
5) Puddle lamps worked twice: once in my garage, once in a parking garage (in three weeks); know not why
6) FordPass crashes when updates are available - must go to google store to get it back by installing update from there
7) It should not be this complicated
8) Tried numerous times to fix/trick it into working, to no avail
9) My computer knowledge is Fortran, etc, waiting hours in a queue to print punch cards, 50 years ago ( why I decided not to pursue that route[worked full time/school fulltime, left no time for waiting in queues])
What I do not know:
How to make it work

Software aside, great car! Faster than one would ever require.
Love it.
Hope to see you on the Highways and Byways
SMILE and be of good cheer.

I was hoping to see your feedback in WATFOR punch card format, maybe like this:

Code:

I suspect your android auto issues are with your phone; I set up my phone (pixel 5) for AA in February and it works every time - I can use waze, the phone app, and podcast addict all concurrently. Sometimes it reports that podcast addict is not available and I have to select and start a podcast on the phone itself, but it plays fine through AA. I can also use the phone voice commands through AA. You are correct that AA and bluetooth are mutually exclusive because they are redundant.
