Sudden speed increase and decrease while using Blue Cruise (1.2)

I think the bigger problem with this feature is, yet again, the wording. I read it and thought, well I want to be able to engage my CC up to 20 mph over the posted speed. Not, I want my CC to auto-engage to 20 over the posted speed.

I get what you're saying - it unreasonable to expect everything electronic to work perfectly 100% of the time - but this issue poses a safety concern - sudden increases in speed when you have it set lower could present problems in certain driving scenarios - I think something like this should not be riled on if it can easily be fooled. There are many examples of that in this thread. None of should rely on standard cruise control or blue cruise without always being ready to take back control - but just like electronics and mechanical systems, humans do not work perfectly 100% of the time either.

Yes the road signs trick my car into speeding up and slowing down at inconvenient times in my trips to work and up to Dallas. But because I am paying attention, and not following to closely, I merely tap the brake or reset the speed. No big deal = not dangerous. Oh. Now I see the problem. What you are saying is that drivers are not ready for the technology. Not that the technology isn't ready for the road. Well, then we agree.

There are some gliches in my area that i have tried fixing on here.com, but the map has never updated to include my fixes. But i do leave mine on since i go through 3 speed traps on my way to work where the speed limit drops. for a short stretch of road.

That's why I leave mine on, too. It works most of the time without issue, and I just learn where it's likely to glitch. It's never been dangerously abrupt in deceleration, compared to how quickly I would have to brake for debris in the road, or random animal crossings.

You likely have Speed Sign Recognition in Adaptive Cruise Control turned on. While in theory that's a useful feature, in reality is too often leads to unexpected results. Most end up turning to off...

I still use this feature and find it worth the hassles. However, on some roads I just have to be ready to respond often. A classic example is I-95 north of Baltimore. When driving in the standard lanes, the speed limit is 55. The wall-separated toll lanes have a speed limit of 65. Signs for each portion are located on both the left and right sides of the lanes, meaning the wall between the two will have alternating 65 and 55 signs.

Ford has subscription charges of about 65 a month. I think this makes sense, because it is a system requiring ongoing changes, and the promise of ongoing improvements. But Ford is not keeping its side of the bargain if it does not have an accelerated procedure of updating maps, particularly if it involves safety.

ps - ever better ADAS navigation also needs to develop 'smart' roads. The technology is here for Better unambiguous signage, and alerts/status for the next few miles of the highway.

Mark, do you turn off the feature when you're driving that stretch of I-95? It would drive me crazy to have to regularly switch back and forth like that.

The only place I've considered using the feature is in rural areas where the speed limit regularly changes as you come into small towns. But the problem I have is that generally in those areas the roads are windy and the speed limit exceeds either the actual safe speed for the turns (or the safe speed to take the turns with my wife ?), so I find I never use it even then.

Nope. When traffic is moving I usually set the speed for 69 and then only reset it half the time. That's my usual speed in areas like that.
