It is not sarcasm. The owner of the vehicle is responsible for sitting and going through all the settings on the screen to UNDERSTAND what each one does. If they don't understand them, then turn them off, or park the car and call the dealership. Or go back to the dealership and make them explain them.

People have to take some responsibility.
I think the sarcasm statement is in reference to to turn off, wait, turn on, wait, turn off. That is way more than needs to be done. This is just a troubleshooting technique to ensure the the settings stick. And as a programmer, I 100% agree that this is not how it should behave.

Finally got the car to dealership and there comment was they were able to recreate the problem, the service advisor commented that ’they haven’t seen anything this crazy what your car is doing’. Dealership has reached out to Ford engineering and I will find out later today if there is any resolution or I have to keep the speed limit recognition turned off until further notice.
BTW I am fully aware what each feature does on the car and have referenced the owner’s manual multiple times. This is definitely a major issue with my car.

I sometimes have the opposite with sign recognition, so I see what you are upset about. In my case, the car reads a highway exit labelled "50" as a speed limit of 50. Suddenly my car slams on the brakes and tries to get down to the proper range. I know of a couple locations where it does this, so I just turn off sign recognition and rely on my own eyes when around home.

For those with BC 1.2 equipped, (or newer) cars....Speed Sign Recognition now falls under Predictive Speed Assist.

So to avoid uncommanded surges in speed, or sudden unexplained reductions in speed (that make the people behind you wonder what you're doing).....just turn that completely off.

Got the car back today and the issue is resolved so no need to turn off speed sign recognition. The explanation from the tech was an OTA update that did not complete successfully and was it was reapplied, (I didn't ask which one). They also fixed the wind noise issue from the driver side view mirror that has an existing TSB. Had excellent support all along from Ford as well, they followed up with the dealer and kept me updated. The only down side is that I had a Bronco as a courtesy car and I spent close to $70($1.50 per litre ~ $5.50/gallon) in gas for short shopping trips for the last 10 days vs paying a small amount to charge at Home.

Found this thread through search before posting anything. I drive occasionally from Philly up to NYC. Most of the drive is on the NJ Turnpike which is almost completely flat and straight, ideal conditions for BC. I’ve never had an issue with BC malfunctioning ever. Today, both on the way up and again on the way back, the car started rapidly accelerating on its own. I’ve not touched or changed any settings. Unlike the other posters here, I was already setting my BC speed above the posted speed limit, so the limit is 65 and my BC set for around 73/74. It’s cruising along fine and then all of a sudden it starts rapidly accelerating on its own with NO LIMIT. Meaning it just kept accelerating… 75, 80, 85, 90 until I hit the brakes or press the button to disengage. Scared the bejeezes out me. If I didn’t stop it, probably would have kept accelerating to who knows how fast. I tried it at least twice on the way up and again on the way home. So this is a setting not set right?? Or what?
