Ford should just send it via OTA. We shouldn't have to work for it with a PITA service call and begging.

OK, I know that's just stating the obvious for the 1000th time. It's a minor function, but c'mon Ford, it's been almost THREE YEARS now. Just OTA the F-ing software update.
I agree completely, but they haven’t, so … ?‍♂

Sorry don’t mean to hijack this thread, but since it’s related to the frunk…

Has anyone figured out a mod for an external frunk opening mechanism that’s similar to the Tesla in this video?

()

I’d reckon if there was an easily accessible button on the front end of the vehicle’s exterior (just like there is for opening the trunk on the rear), it would negate the need to even bother with the touchscreen, let alone replacing the windshield defrost controls with a frunk button or even purchasing and programming a whole new F-150 Lightning key fob just to access the frunk. I use the frunk a lot nowadays (can’t imagine life without one!), and it’s slightly annoying that I have to put down whatever I’m carrying to open the door and yank the lever in the footwell twice, or dig up my phone and hold the tiny frunk button in the Ford Pass app. It shouldn’t be that difficult to wedge a tiny button in the gap between the hood and the mustache/grill design, right?
It’s essentially already there. The external jump point will open your frunk IF your 12V battery is drained. Otherwise, you have to use FordPass, a fob with a frunk button, or the door keypad.

The emergency release button inside the frunk is basically right above the front bumper cover. Wouldn't take much to wire in a button...

Right, I was just wondering if anyone’s gotten it to work as shown in the video, where it won’t depend on the battery being dead, and it won’t open unless the car is brought to a stop and a phone or key fob is nearby. Has anyone gotten it to work exactly as shown in the video, with all the security and safety measures the guy describes in place? If that works, we won’t even need to bother with any other mechanism, method or mod for opening the frunk. Just walk up to it with a phone or fob in your pocket and push a button just below the hood to open it. Anyone?

The button inside the frunk does not depend on the battery being dead. It shouldn't need a phone/fob nearby however.

Thanks, ok that’s good to know it doesn’t require the battery being dead, are you referring to the safety button that’s inside the frunk? Because I really don’t want just anyone to be able to pop the hood open from the outside without my authorization. And I certainly don’t want the hood popping open on its own while I’m driving if some debris happens to bump it just the right way. The guy in the video covers all these scenarios in the making of his mod. I haven’t seen anything similar for the Mach E that also takes into consideration these very important safety and security measures.

Is it possible to mod a button that functions exactly as the video depicts?
