Hi everyone. I’ve had an ongoing issue where Sync showed that version 1.7.1 is “installed” on my Mach-E I’ve had since February with 1.7.1 showing installed for over a month now. However none of the features are there (Notes, CarPlay nav in dash display, bigger CarPlay on main display, trunk release, etc.) and I’ve had a weird issue where automatic updates are set to “off” and toggling the switch leaves the automatic updates greyed out no matter which way the switch is flipped. (Will attach photos) Today I took my Mach-E in to have the windshield recall fixed (thankfully mine seems to have been repaired properly after seeing the horror stories here). While I was at the dealership I had them check this out and they said they would reinstall everything while it was there. They spent a few hours on it and now my PAAK and my Fob both seem to work correctly which they did not before. I previously couldn’t walk up to the car with either the PAAK or the fob and open doors without opening app and unlocking via button on app or physical pressing of button on fob. Also the front doors always had to be opened first or rears would not open. All of these issues are resolved as of today. This leads me to believe the dealership actually did preform updates.

However even after the dear updates now the infotainment screen shows “- -“ as the sync 4 software version and Revision. A master reset did not fix this.

Any ideas or places to start would be fantastic. The only dealer around here doesn’t know anything about how to work on them yet. I’ve had to do research and troubleshooting on other issues I was having to guide them to a repair solution in the past. They’re great people but just don’t know this car with how new it is and how remote our area is compared to normal places you would see EVs. If I can do it myself or if anyone knows of any TSBs or known issues I can show the dealership to point them in the right direction it would be very appreciated.

TL;DR: Sync shows I had 1.7.1 installed but I had no features. Dealership reinstalled everything now version and revision are blank and I still have no features from 1.7.1. Automatic updates will not turn on before or after dealer reinstall.

Technically, the sync part of your update has failed. This is a known issue and is currently being worked on by the team

Welcome to the club. I've been stuck in this mode for well over 8 weeks now! I've been in touch with Ford via PM (this site) and they supposedly assigned me a case number but I was never contacted by Ford despite the fact that I inquired about it via PMs at least 3 more times. I've gotten responses from the social media person each time, but the group at Ford that is supposed to work on my case has still never contacted me. I've also been in touch via email with the Early Access Program (someone on this site was kind enough to give me the email address), and I was told they were vigorously working on the problem, but again it seems that they are no longer responding to my emails with any type of status update at all. So, I am waiting very patiently for Ford to fix this problem or at the very least, contact me with some sort of status update. At least the car is running okay, but it needs several updates that as far as I know, may never come via OTA. I am still very hesitant to take it to a dealer because many have reported terrible results. Now back to waiting, waiting, waiting ...

I been stuck in the same position for over 6 weeks now. Car is at dealer now for the recall and i mentioned to do all the software updates. the 3 key updates i would ask for and I did are TSB-21P22 fixes many issues, TSB-21-2249 IMPA (I hope this is the fix), TSB 21-2310 Sync-4 and TSB 21-2405 Powertrain. I will let you know when i get back car back if these updates worked assuming they do them all.

The dealer just did mine today and my doors finally unlock properly now. They said they applied several (everything available to them) its a dealership I've had good experience with in the past many times so I believe them. Mine still is having Sync 4 issues though unfortunately. However I am glad to be able to get in the car easier!

Edit: if this fixes yours though please do let me know they may have missed one by accident!

I am glad its not just my car so hopefully Ford will notice and find a solution since its multiple cars. My biggest concern is not being able to get the fix like you said because of OTA being off permanently.
