Barring accidents, are these vehicles one could keep for the rest of your driving days?

Thought is modern suspensions will last a long time.
Self driving will not happen for a long time and even then many will pass.

Thoughts?

Perhaps. I’m 65 and could probably keep my 2021 until I can’t or shouldn’t drive any longer, but I’m not planning on it. I expect to replace but with a better EV at some point down the road.

Probably not. I may have brand loyalty, but not model loyalty. Nothing against the Mach E (love it honestly), but I like new things. ? Besides, terminal sounds so...final.

EV = Laptop

Newer and improved models always in development.

The big area of future developments will revolve around the battery in terms of range.

This alone most likely will drive folks to upgrade to a newer model.

Range, range and range is the new location, location and location.

EV’s generally experience less wear but we have no data to look back on for the MME right now.

Could you…. Probably. It will require a battery replacement at some point. But the smack of other critical parts means keeping it running shouldn’t be a problem. Will the 2021 Mach-E still be drivable in 40 years, like a 1981 mustang…. it’s possible.

Pretty vague question. At some point, charging technology may not be backward compatible.

Does that mean I have to be buried in it like some of the rich losers do. I bet you the ceremony of burying your MachE with a dude in it is way more expensive than just cremation. Something tells me environmentally it would be best to remove the batteries as well?

I plan on winning a car on the wheel of Fortune taking the keys from Vanna White sometime in 2024 so no this will likely not be my last vehicle

Look out???? Vanna. I'm coming for it...

Jes sayin. Never stop looking for your next car

We’ll see what the MME has in a couple years and I’ll probably upgrade.

I hope so. That's why I bought a First Edition. I'm in my 60s and my Tacoma is a 2003 (about to be replaced with a Lightning).

Maybe I'll replace it when I can't drive anymore and can get a car that will drive me everywhere I need to go.

Are you calling me old? ;)

My wife and I actually wondered if this would be one of our last vehicles. We tend to keep them for 7+ years and realistically this is likely near the end of the line driving-wise. Maybe 1 or 2 more, or maybe this will be it...

But considering we technically still have a 1970 VW Beetle convertible a friend is using and a 2002 Ford Thunderbird I think barring accidents people can keep any vehicle for a long time with the proper tlc.

Bahahaha! Not at all, just uh probably older than me as I'm a bit in the bottom of the age spectrum of ownership with our wonderful cars! You are also as young as you feel my friend! ?

But I do hope maybe when I get to be in my 60s or 70s it might be odd to actually drive your car, as all of them will be full self driving by then and maybe not even have steering wheels anymore, who knows!

I don’t think battery tech is there yet for there to be a forever car. I think the next 3 to 5 years will see a ton of advancements that will make our current cars look like the first bulky Motorola cell phones. Think about all the advancements in just the last three years.

I'm 64 and even if in 5 years EVs will have twice the range and can be charged in half time, will I be able to drive that far and that long without a restroom break at that time? Hopefully, I will be able to drive, period.
