I see quite a few people state they prefer Tesla chargers. I also see reports of shorter cables being an issue.

What are people doing to deal with the shorter cables?

Posted often.

Park on the far right and nose in
or
Use the trailer spot
or
Park as Tesla instructs. Nose of vehicle goes right over most curbs.

And you can even get over the higher curbs by storing a pair of little ramps in your frunk, as @Colorado MME GT has shown.
I used these ramps a lot on a long road trip last year, but on a similar trip this year, I looked for Tesla SCs that were 325 kW, which have long cables that don't require wonky parking. The ramps never left my frunk. It also helped that Ionna chargers are now becoming more prevalent, so I prioritize them over Tesla.

I never bought any ramps and have charged many many times. I think two or three locations were too high and I simply park at an angle or park sideways if I had to. I have no room for ramps on a trip.

I think the issue is more with the GT and the Sport Appearence Package equipped Premium.
The ramps fit nicely in the frunk

I've not yet had an issue with curb hight across more than a dozen states, seems like it would be such a rare thing I haven't bothered with ramps.

As shown in the photo above, park over the line into the next stall to the right. It's ok, even expected, to block both. Always go to the furthest stall to the right if you can, often you won't have to block a second charger, but if you do don't worry about it.

You do need to get close, my first time I had to get back in and pull up more. I'll usually stop after my car blocks a bit of my view of the charger on the front camera.

You do need an adapter. Even the stations that have built in adapters can be finicky about releasing them, but most stations do not have any adapters built in.

It seems more intimidating than it is, once you've tried it'll become easy. If you have a local station make your practice run before your trip.

Is this applicable to the heat pump MME's with the smaller frunk?

I have only taken one long trip in my MME, I used two V3 Tesla superchargers where there were plenty of open spots. I used one V4 where I had to wait about 10 min for a spot and the cable was long enough.

If you had to charge often at V3 superchargers you could consider this extender. I don’t think I would likely buy it because of its cost though.

One of the reviews talked about using “Avenue” as a discount code for 22% off. Only a few reviews but they all seem good.

The picture below is me sometime last year in Brownsville, TX. Though this was for naught as just across town there is a V4 I didn’t know of at the time.
