I am not saying a bolt is sexy, fast, and car persons car, I am saying for a lot of people looking for affordable transportation a bolt is an amazing deal.

I’ve been looking at a Bolt EV for my brother and sister in law. The base $26K Bolt doesn’t even blind spot monitors (like Teslas) and has cloth seats. The trims you talk about with 360 camera are extra packages and only available in cars over $32K.

Bolt driving/handling is the worst of all EVs I’ve driven and I’ve pretty driven every single one released in the US almost. My brother doesn’t care because he’s used to Toyotas lol.
You can get a base LT and add the 2 packages for less than 1k to get those features.

Agreed that M3 RWD at $39K minus minus $7500 make a compelling proposition. It's a nice car for the money.
I did love my Mach-e, glad I sold in November before prices tanked.
I'd definitely consider a M3 RWD at current pricing.
Bolt, on the other hand, is a econo/penalty box that I have no interest in driving.

I mean, when the conversation is about getting the cheapest EV , then this seems like a very valid point
Ok, I’ll play.

OP: Taylor Swift is discounting her concert tickets 20%!!

Me: holy shit, this is huge! Taylor Swift tickets for 1,500 bucks! That’s a game changer.

You and others: But Ke$ha’s tickets are going for $25.

Me: who cares about Ke$ha! She hasn’t released a new song in ages, her concerts are half empty and she’s retiring end of year anyway.

You and others: but Ke$ha smashes her guitar mid concert (360 deg camera, if you’re not following).

Me: Swifties don’t care about guitar smashing, they want to listen to Anti-Hero!

You and others: but for 25 bucks, come on, I mean if you want the cheapest ticket in town.

Me: ??‍♂

But Ke$ha is all some people can afford. So to them the price of Swift's tickets is a moot point.

No it is not! That is completely false information. Model 3 sold 240,000 vehicles last year to the Bolt’s 38,000. It is not even close. And M3 was way more expensive last year too. Customers are not idiots. They are willing to pay way more for a better car.

At ease hard charger. People may be willing to pay for a better car IF THEY CAN! But if they can't then they will get what they can afford. No one, at least not me, is saying people will buy an inferior product even if they can afford a superior one. Calm down.

That’s not a valid argument. At a $32k price point you are a good $13k below average transaction price that you have a huge market open for you. Of course some still can’t afford it. But there are so many who can that the supply becomes the issue, not demand.

See? I’m not the one using all caps.

Stating that some people cannot afford a car above a certain price is not a valid argument? ? Wow. See ya, wouldn't want to be ya. :)

It’s not applicable. It’s like saying sun rises from the east. Yes, totally true and completely irrelevant.

I’m done with this stupid thread.

So as a reference point before the Mach-E I drove a Bolt. I make a nice salary but always drove a car WAY below my means. I was driving a 10 year old sonata when my co-workers all had Bimmers or Audis, and I knowingly bought a Bolt for 24k out the door cause it was perfect for my commute. At that time I could have bought at 35k Tesla 3, but the inner Buddhist in me won out, the Bolt handled its task perfectly, I did shop both cars. For many a car is a tool that goes from A to B.

Same. Drove a Prius for 6 years and it was parked next to AMGs and M5s. Our personal experience doesn’t apply to the market.
