I noticed this starting to occur a few months ago. The MagicDocks would no longer dispense the adapter. I assumed it was because I had the Ford adapter but maybe not. Either way, since I had my adapter, it was no big deal.

I used one on 10/6 in Monticello NY. No issues. I think previously the charger knew you had a Mach e and automatically gave you the magic dock. Now you have to hold the button on the charger handle for 2-3 seconds and the dock will release. That seemed new to me. The directions tell you this in the app.

That’s how it’s always been. You can pull out a cord when an adapter before ever doing anything that would give Tesla any information about what car is at the charger.

Windermere isn’t list as a magic dock location so??

Tesla changed how the docks release many months ago. Originally you had to push the Tesla plug and the adapter upwards to release it. Now you have to hold the button on the Tesla connector for 2 seconds to release it.

EDIT: I'm not seeing any other reports of Magic Dock issues (just that one dude at one location), so this may be overblown. I would see more people complaining about it but I can't find any other reports online. Some Rivian drivers said Magic Dock worked just fine today.

Does this only affect V4 dispensers or both V3 and V4 Magic Dock site?

In my experience, the V4 require the button press. Even then, you will occasionally find a v4 dispenser that seemingly doesn’t have a dock. (No “thunk” after pressing for two seconds.). The v3 MagicDocjs may require the button press now, but did not when I used one two months ago. You did have to know to push back into the v3 unit after using the Tesla app to activate.

Yes, it could just be a change of procedure. It has been awhile since I used a Magic Dock (a V3) and I had to press the button on the handle for 2 seconds.

Maybe some of the V4 dispensers do not have the magic dock given there are now adapters.
