Thinking of a Mach-E

My brother has a model 3 and loves it but can't get a tax credit anymore on a Tesla plus I think the Mach e looks better in my opinion. Anyone here had a model 3 and went to a Mach e? I'm a little torn just because I don't know anyone who has a Mach e but they seem to be great cars but I know a few people who have a model 3 and love them. Plus my brother said charging is easy with the Model 3 but it seems like the Mach e would be pretty easy to chage with Electricy America.

There are some good comparison threads here regarding the two brands. There will be no shortage of opinions. It will likely come down to how important you hold the DC Fast Charging experience. If that is really of high importance then you might consider the Tesla. If you use your car in a more normal fashion (daily driver) then the Mach-E is an excellent choice.

The MME is a great car. If you are charging at home, it’s a great daily driver. As @SnBGC said there are challenges with non-Tesla DC fast charging and it really has more to do with the charging networks than with the MME. Search the forums for DCFC or charging issues. I personally have only had limited experience with DCFC and really only had one problem. ?‍?

Painfully slow on L1. About 3 miles of range per hour assuming moderate ambient temps. To be fair.....that is about the same with all plug in EVs though....

It will travel, just takes a little planning. Many here have used their car on lengthy road trips with good results.

Thanks, yes 3 miles of range per hour is very slow. Is the level 2 charger about 23 miles per hour? The main reason I am asking is I keep reading that DC fast chargers are not great for batteries. I don't know that for sure but that's what i've read.

It depends on the L2 unit. The charger in the car can accept as little as 6 amps and as much as 48 amps. This means you are able to install whatever speed EVSE as you wish provided the circuit provided to power the unit is sized appropriately.

If you use the EVSE (charge supply equipment) that comes with the car then you should see about 20-21 miles of range per hour. If you get one that can supply 48A then you should see about 30 miles of range per charging hour.

DC Fast Charging should be the last option. AC (L1 and L2) is the best option and should be used in lieu of DC charging when practical to do so.

That being said....occasional and responsible use of DCFC appears to be quite alright with no observable consequences to the HVB or your ability to use the vehicle as you wish.

Good points.
Now that you mention it.....the folks I met who own Teslas have a common statement when comparing their cars to the Mach-E. While they all like their cars (because EVs are cool)....the general consensus is Tesla cars lack soul.

Also comes down to interface and driving preferences. I didn’t like the single screen interface in the middle of Model Y. Much prefer the 2 screen approach of the Mach E.
Can’t speak for driving feeling of Teslas but really enjoyed the Mach E so that was a deciding factor(I had to like it).
