I had the extended pack premium AWD. Likely the difference.I didn't get that much for my car but I did get more than I paid for it originally. Mine was a Job 1 Premium MME AWD Std battery; I don't know your exact specs.
The heat pump operates down to about 14F. But yeah, if it's colder than that the engine needs to kick on and off for heat. That's not a big deal while you're driving, but the annoying part is that the engine isn't allowed to start during preconditioning, which means you can't prewarm the car when it's very cold out (which is likely when you need it most). In the winter, the PHEV will run the gas engine to warm it up to provide heat. 44 miles will become 30, once the engine is warm. Good luck!
ILL-Best of luck.

Thank you Mark! I think it is a good PHEV also. I just have a lot of reading and learning to do.Enjoy the RAV4 Prime. It’ sa great PHEV.
I hope it doesn’t snow where you live. I had a 2017 RAV4 hybrid and the AWD doesn’t kick in until you get to 30 mph. It was basicly a 1 wheel vehicle in snow rear motor was too small. Hope they fixed it.I wanted to say how much I have appreciated learning about my Mach E and talking with the wonderful members on this forum. But today I sold my 2021 Mach E and purchased a 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV. It was a decision that was a long time coming for numerous reasons; my wife wanted me to sell the car, she had terrible range anxiety with a 210 mile range in warmer weather and 30% or more decrease in the winter, I was tired of worrying about the HVJB issue and feeling like I was driving a time bomb waiting for a possible (probable) failure and Ford's failure to address the root cause and do what is right IMHO; the lack of EVSE stations and especially stations that work (this will get better with time but that may take years), the fact that I could get more for my Mach E then I paid for it new, my wife and my reluctance on taking the Mach E for long trips, and several other reasons I don't want to get into.
My Mach E was beautiful and I will miss that. Infinite Blue Metallic and the Light Space Grey interior was a color combination that my wife picked out and I loved it. The RAV4 is Midnight Black Metallic and this is a color which I have never owned before and I will have to learn how to take care of a black car (I think they show more dirt/salt than other colors). The car also came ceramic coated with a 5 year guarantee and of course really shines. It is not as good as a job done at a detail shop but since it was thrown in I took it.. The car came with PPF already applied, side door moldings, door edge guards, mud flaps, roof rack which our Acura luggage roof carrier will fit and many other options I wanted. I feel the RAV4 plug-in hybrid is the best of both worlds in that it runs on battery power alone for 44 miles and then switches to the hybrid mode getting 38 to 44 mpg. It's range is listed at 600 miles which is a far cry from the Mach E's 210 miles and will eliminate any range anxiety my wife or I had. Most of the time we will be using the battery around home and not burn any gas. I already have the Grizzl-E EVSE so I'm all set there. It is lacking other things, however, the most important to me being a sound system which is not very robust. I am pretty sure that I will replace the OEM sound system and replace it with a better system (probably JBL).
I will continue to monitor this board from time to time and check in to see what is going on with the members and their cars.
Thank everyone again for such a knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant experience and I can only hope that the RAV4 Prime Forum will be as good as this forum is.
Mike
Below is me by my car today when I took delivery:
Yes; just not quite as soon. Electric batteries are what they are when it comes to temperature and range (lack of right now).,The extra 60 -70 miles added with the extended range still cannot compare to the 600 mile Range of the RAV4. Just a more practical car for me Rick but enjoy your Mach E!One other point I'd make. You have mentioned range concerns many times on the forum, yet you bought a standard range vehicle. Had you bought an extended range vehicle, would you have had the same range concerns?
That‘s not the case with the Prime.I had a 2017 RAV4 hybrid and the AWD doesn’t kick in until you get to 30 mph.
Wise man! Happy wife - happy life and she is very happy now. What can I say? I am just another old guy-LOL. The Mach E was on my “ bucket list” and that itch has been scratched. We had a really cute 2002 Torch Red Thunderbird 2seat convertible from 2002 to 2013 so I don’t need to scoop up another convertible but nice thought! We had a blast with the car and went all over with other retro Thunderbirds in our club. The RAV4 Prime is the perfect car (SUV) for us now.You went from the very cool “What is that?” guy driving the silky infinite blue electric game changer to just another old guy driving a black Toyota. But, hey, happy wife, … right? Maybe you could hop on over to BAT and scoop up a TR-6 convertible just for you - kind of like therapy.
The R4P really is great for road trips. We went to NY over the summer, which is about 300 miles each way. The first 50 miles in each direction were electric, and we averaged 44mpg after the engine kicked on. We made it there and back on one tank of gas. After that trip, I filled the gas tank for the 3rd time since getting the car over a year ago. That was 2 months ago and it's still full. The RAV4 Prime is the perfect car (SUV) for us now.
Glad they fixed it. MME is great in snow as long as its not too deepThat‘s not the case with the Prime.
See @generaltso answer. The Prime edition doesn't have that problem according to him. I don't know yet as I haven't tried it in snow. I hope he is correct and it performs well in the winter.I hope it doesn’t snow where you live. I had a 2017 RAV4 hybrid and the AWD doesn’t kick in until you get to 30 mph. It was basicly a 1 wheel vehicle in snow rear motor was too small. Hope they fixed it.
