It would be appreciated if we can keep these sorts of comments out of the thread.
You suggested we have a feature that we don’t have.

I think other people would appreciate getting the correct information.

Feel free to prove us wrong here, but do you have a source that suggests we have noise cancelling technology in the Mach E?

I’m gauging interest.

Would you pay $600 for a drop in subwoofer enclosure that fits where the stock Mach-e subwoofer did? This does not include the subwoofer itself.
It would be a very small subwoofer.

Other options that could be made :

1. Factory amp relocation bracket and extension harness. (Additional cost)

2. Removal of the stock amp (free), in which case you would need to put in an aftermarket amp.

3. Looking to the future I could design a ā€œdrop inā€ solution for upgrading the stock tweeters in the dash, bass driver in the front and rear doors and finally the tweeters in the rear doors.

Is it the price or just not interested all together in adding a subwoofer ?
The price vs the expected improvement. I put a subwoofer under the driver seat and I really like it. That was less than $300 total. For $600+ I would go the JL route Mark did.

Okay I understand now. Custom work for a niche market yields higher prices than a mass produced non custom option.

Only if it could compete with the 10ā€ powered JL audio in terms of sound quality.

Most people (myself included) added a sub specifically for SQ. The JL 10 fits nicely in an unused space under the lower deck.

I would consider paying a little more to free up that lower deck space (even though I have never needed the space) but not if I had to sacrifice the reason I added a sub in the first place (for the SQ).

Totally hidden (factory sub location) would be great, but under the rear deck is basically totally hidden anyways.

When you say ā€œdrop in,ā€ are you proposing powering the custom sub off of the factory amp?

I would assume an aftermarket amp would be mandatory for any sub change to get more bass.

The factory amp is anemic and it barely has enough power to amplify the stock 6x8 woofer. Even the most efficient sub would need more power that comes from An aftermarket amp.

The stock amp Doesn’t even have enough power rms to power a 2-way component set in the doors and dash.

Iā€˜ll throw this out there too as an option. A custom subwoofer enclosure that conforms to where a spare tire would have sit. The possibilities could
Include space for aftermarket amps and of course many subwoofer options.

True but the JL is powered. Seems like Mark's approach is the way to go for high end results:

Gotcha.

So reading your post again, the $600 is for the custom enclosure alone, does not include a subwoofer, nor amp, nor wiring?

So likely $1000 or more all in with everything to put a small sub in the factory location?

I don’t think there would be much demand for that.

For a custom box in the spare tire location, this could have some demand if:

It fits with the tray in the lower position.

And

You could put a larger/more powerful sub (or pair of subs) than the JL powered 10.

Why? Because the JL powered 10 already fits perfectly in that spot, so it’s the direct competition.

Don’t quote me on an exact price but I believe the labor would be less for a tire location subwoofer.

You would still need the supporting components. Subwoofer , wiring , amp .

I don’t think there would be much demand for that.

Then I won’t waste my time doing it. If there is no demand why bother.

For a custom box in the spare tire location, this could have some demand if:

This is very dependent on the subwoofer used. Possibility if we using something slim like a JL TW3.

You could put a larger/more powerful sub (or pair of subs) than the JL powered 10.

Haven’t test fit or calculated the air space, however eyeballing it I see 2 8’s in that spot .

Why? Because the JL powered 10 already fits perfectly in that spot, so it’s the direct competition.
