I just dropped my car off to get that software update for the recall fix, they told me it would take maybe half a day, is that normal? I assumed it would take less time, just curious.

When I dropped my car in the morning, the Service Manager said it might take until the next day as they had dozens of MMEs on hold for new buyers. He then proceeded to call me 2 hours later saying it would be ready by lunchtime, ergo, it all depends on the whim of the dealership crew.

Actual update time will depend on the number modules that are updated. Ford is telling dealers 0.6 hours for 22S41 as I recall. My job 2 car had many modules beyond the 22S41 update, so it took longer, but was still less than an hour.

The actual software updates take less than 30 minutes, but it's normal for dealers to pad the time since they're scheduling a lot of cars in and out.

However, I haven't seen that the recall updates have been added back to FDRS yet, so it's quite possible that you'll get your car back without the recall actually being performed (despite what the paperwork may say).

The fix is coming OTA as we speak. I received mine last night. That might spell you from a trip to the car doctor.

Ok my car is currently at the ford dealership, are you saying I technically didn’t have to take it there, and it will update and fix the recall on its own?

Why didn’t the dealer tell me stuff like this today then? Should I contact them and ask them about the ā€œFDRSā€ and what is added to it, or just wait till later this afternoon and see what they say?

Unless the dealer reads this forum, they wouldn't know. See what your paperwork says when you get the car back, and some members here can check your VIN to see if you did really get the recall software. If you didn't, it should come OTA within the next month.

Ok sorry for the questions, but so what you’re saying is, basically whenever I get my car back today, just wait a month and maybe the software can be updated automatically without my having to revisit the dealership right?

Basically, yes. It will liklely be less than a month since the OTA updates are already rolling out. But all cars are supposed to get it by mid-August.

OTA 22S41 and 22529 took 17 minutes. Plus no trip to the dealer and no wait time to talk to them or do the paperwork.

The recall updates were added back to FDRS today, so you probably got them. If you want to be sure, you can send me your VIN and I’ll check the versions.

Sorry, but dealers are vastly uninformed and misinformed on this vehicle. But you’re making the right decision in reading this forum.
