That we have to get new tires as soon as the tires has lost a mm of thread depth?

Friend, I’m offering the OP an alternative to not waste their money buying four new tires, instead, buy one new tire, get it shaved down to the same tread depth as the other three. If this happens to you, feel free to do whatever it is that you prefer to do in this situation.

I have no experience but what I believe he is stating is that all 4 tires should have fairly equal thread depth or it will cause issues on a BEV. He is suggesting having a new tire “shaved” versus replacing all four tires. At least that is my understanding of his suggestion.

Shaving tires isn't a new thing either. The first time I had it done was in the early '80s for my autocrosser. We shaved new tires in order to make the tread blocks stiff while still complying with rules about having tread on a street class car. Full depth tread offers better wet weather performance, but in dry circumstances, the less sipe depth, the better. Of course, we also added siping to wet weather tires and dirt tires too. ??
