I have a deposit on a 2021 Mach-e set with a build date of 12/18. The more I read about the troubles people are having, the more hesitant I am to go through with my purchase. I know people typically only post when they are having issues, as is the nature of the internet, but it seems like a fair amount of problems going on- some fairly serious. My questions:

Is this a typical amount of issues for a new to the market vehicle?

Are people finding that their service techs are able to diagnose and fix problems pretty readily or are they still too unfamiliar with the vehicle?

Are people generally happy with their decision to get on board early?

I'm not much of a risk taker but I really LOVE the Mach-e! This will be my very first new car purchase and I can't tell if this is just cold feet or maybe I'm not meant to be an early adopter and should wait. I'm so torn.

I’ve had mine since February and have no regrets. I have had a few issues including a cracked pano roof, but my dealer has been very good at taking care of things. Pleasantly surprised since I’m in a smallish midwestern town where EVs are scarce.

Keep in mind that forums like this attract people who have issues so it likely seems like things are worse than they are. 75% of people who have zero problems likely never join a forum like this one.

Do your homework and find a reputable and capable dealer.

I think so. Not sure though.

I bought my vehicle in early March. I haven't brought it back to any dealer yet.

Are people generally happy with their decision to get on board early?
I am happy with my decision.

Ditto the above. Also, a car built Dec 2021 will already have many software updates that address a lot of the issues you've seen people post about. Mine was built Jan 2021 and I've had it since March - some minor annoyances but I really love this car.

I expect more problems that would be typical of a new vehicle, because Ford has much less EV experience than they do auto/truck experience in general.

FWIW, no problems at all with my car to date. I've only had it five or six weeks, however.

I had a flat in the first thousand and a couple of weeks ago at 9500 miles had to add washer fluid. The struggle is real.....

Picked ours up at the end of Oct. We've put about 1,500 trouble free miles on it since then. We've had minor hiccups now and then - mostly due to FordPass app, which I think is ? - but we are absolutely loving this car.

Picked up a July 2021 Build first week of November. Nearly 1000 trouble free miles so far!

I find it funny because most of the I HATE THIS CAR BLAH BLAH posts are almost ALLLLLL "software" related, and 99% of those are because of Phone as a Key. Which, to me, isn't an issue. The latest updates really seem to fix PaaK and I came from a car where I had to keep the key on me, so I just keep the key on me still, that wasn't a driver at all for me picking the Mach-e over anything else. As much as people don't like to admit it, Tesla has definitely had its fair share of PaaK issues. My friend just keeps his Model 3 keycard on him now because when he got his car PaaK was so buggy he doesn't want to risk it anymore. Same thing with relying on the Telsa app to timely respond to unlock requests, etc.

The rest are about laggy sync screen, which I don't run into once the car has had 2 minutes to boot up, or remote start and there is no issue at all. I use CarPlay mostly and then steering wheel controls for changing the station or skipping Spotify on CarPlay. I'm not sure what other people use the Sync screen for that they notice all this lag and crazy issues while using it.

My Wife loves the car but she has NO patience for PAAK problems! She is happy with the FOB in her purse! So far, so good at 5 months and 4500 miles.
