Unbridled brake lights

During a recent short run, I was followed by a friend. Upon reaching our destination, she commented that my brake lights were not working properly. I immediately realized she was referring to the deceleration under throttle lift associated with driving in unbridled mode. I guess she deemed the slowdown aggressive enough to warrant a brake light signal. I wonder if this is something that could be addressed in an update, or if it would require a much more complicated intervention to accomplish.

Anyhow, my takeaway from this was that in heavy traffic, I switch out of unbridled mode to avoid upsetting the car behind me.

I relate what you describe as no different than if you were driving an ICE Mustang GT with a stick-shift. When downshifting with a stick, the brake lights don't come on either.

As mentioned, this is a forever old debate with manual transmissions.
AND also diesel exhaust braking which has been common in HD pickups for some time.

I do not use unbridled at all, but I do use "L" mode practically every drive.

I miss my Honda Hybrid paddle shifters to control the regen level up/down on demand. Honda does not have brake lights turn on either, at any level of regen, but its also not as strong of regen using the paddles only compared to this car.

Use one pedal driving. Problem solved.
There isn’t much difference between unbridle and one pedal in the deceleration, but the brake lights come on.

Funny, my Unbridle anxiety is the opposite. I worry that my brake lights are on too much of the time.

Now that Ford has moved the car to the center of the IPC screen, maybe they can make that useless static image a little more useful by illuminating the brake lights in the image when they're on in real life. I'd appreciate knowing when my car is automatically turning them on.

While the deceleration in unbridle mode is more aggressive than other modes, any following driver bugged by it may be following wayyy too close.

I’m glad they don’t come on and send false signals to drivers behind. Save the brake lights for when really braking.

I’m sure it‘s a regulatory constraint but I had always thought it’d be a good idea to use brake light intensity or segmentation to indicate braking levels to the driver behind. Like a bar graph for braking. One segment for light braking, three for >50% brake power… Would be easy to do on the Mach E.

Now back in 2011 they didn’t have an electric Mustang . I’m wondering if they got a hold of my old Photoshop picture of my car and I’m not getting any royalties

Are you sure about that? That would be a sloppy design. Other manufacturers turn on the brake lights upon reaching a specified level of deceleration.

Are you also in 1 pedal mode? I drive almost exclusively in Unbridled/one pedal mode, and at night in very dark areas I've definitely noticed the brake lights coming on when lifting my foot off the accelerator.

Agree with others it would be nice to know via the dashboard when the brake lights are illuminating.

You're talking about a company that has put 50% of completely blank space in their center console. Ain't gonna happen.
