Unbridled brake lights

You will never get that feature. Like in the entirety of your existence. OEMs are not idiots and will not add something that is distracting to the IP. The we is all of us except you.

How is that more distracting than the lane keep lines? The blue box going orange and red. The car that appears in front of it. Or the fast changing speedometer for that matter.

My son’s Ford Focus shows the lights being on or off on the little digital car display. Doesn’t need the glowing brake like since it doesn’t have 1 pedal.

It’s distracting and useless. What action are you going to take if your brake lights are not on? Or if they are on? If you are veering off the road and lane keep assist indicates that, you can do something about it. It’s called steering the wheel that you’re hopefully holding with your two hands. It’s sometimes referred to as “driving”.

If they are not on when I want them to be, let go of the throttle more. The opposite is don’t let go off the throttle that much.
Lane keep is useless to me so I don’t turn it on. If this is useless to you, don’t turn it on.

So you are going to change how you apply the brake based on whether the light is on or off? Vs braking as required to maintain safe speed and following distance?

That’s objectively ass backwards.

Friend, we are heading towards more automation, not less! And to create more chores for the driver because of how the brake light behaves is dangerous.

The brake coach is training you to be a better driver, reacting to the real signal (cars around you), not the noise (whether the brake light is on or off).

Safely driving your car includes being intentional with how you communicate with other drivers, such as using turn signals. Brake lights provide other drivers information about your intentions. Brake lights flashing on/off or coming on when you’re not really braking gives false information, potentially leading to other drivings making unnecessary avoidance maneuvers. It’s perfectly reasonable and diligent to slightly modulate your driving and braking to avoid sending the wrong signal to other drivers. Anyone who has ever been behind someone riding the brake knows how frustrating it is when other drivers are oblivious as to their brake light illumination.

Safely driving my car, for me, means giving people around me (and behind me) as much information as I can. When I'm driving other cars and see the traffic in front of me slowing down, I touch the brake pedal to flash the lights to let the drivers behind me know that I might slow down in a few moments. With 1PD I lift my foot a little and would like to know if it was enough to give the same warning.

That is a reasonable thing to do. My point is that you shouldn’t be anxiously monitoring the brake lights on the dash and overreacting with brake pedal application to force a brake light on.

I drive the Mach-E like I do any other car. I’m not the one turning brake lights on and off and getting pissy about it. It’s the other guys. Why don’t you read four pages to figure out who’s who first before passively responding.
