hoping to pick up our Mach E next week. I’m leaning vapor blue. Wife thinking black. So, likely, it’ll be black, sigh. My question is, is it possibly to get the new wall charger that is compatible to the Tesla system? Sorry, I am EV naive, so I don’t have all the tech savvy wording down, yet.

Do you have a Tesla home charger already? Or are you trying to future proof things? The car is going to come with the standard J1772 inlet port that every non-Tesla EV manufacturer has used for the last 13 or 14 years. If you are going to buy a charging station for home use, and you want something that will work for the Mach-E, plus future EVs that come with Tesla's NACS port, then I would get the Tesla Wall Charger that includes a NACS to J1772 adapter and the Tesla NACS connector. Otherwise you can easily pickup a J1772 to NACS adapter if you go with a standard J1772 charging station and later get a Tesla. The car may or may not come with a Ford J1772 cord-set that can plug into the wall.

There’s two possibilities from Ford.
1) There may or may not be a portable charger included with the car. It’s a $500 option and it will show it on the sticker. That can be used to charge the car from any AC 110v outlet (very slow but it works) or from a “NEMA 14-50” AC 240v outlet that you’ll probably need installed by an electrician, which is faster. The portable does not come with a J1772 (the plug on the car) to Tesla NACS adapter. You can buy them from various places - A2Z is one.
2) The recently announced Ford Power Promise program will provide Ford’s Connected Charger (more robust than the portable), installation and a CCS (the plug on the car with the little door flipped down) to Tesla NACS DC fast charging adapter. You can use this at DC Tesla Supercharger DC fast charging stations. The portable and the Ford Connected charger are both AC chargers that you can use at home, for instance, The included adapter is for DC fast charging that you would typically use on road trips, for instance.

It’s a bit confusing since Tesla NACS is both an AC and a DC fast charging plug in one. Our Mustang Mach E uses two different plug types, J1772 (AC) and CCS (DC) that plug into the same receptacle on the car in two different ways.

Hope that helps and that I didn’t explain too much that you already knew. There’s a lot to learn anyway. It’s a fun car.

The 25s are *not* using the NACS inlet ports. NACS is to be added in 2026 or 2027.
