That would require me to remember exactly where it was said. I am better remembering what I hear than whare I heard it.
Or mis-remembering?

I tried 'valet mode' .... got no numbers on screen, no numbers in the email it DID send me, and it locked the display with 3 'thinking' dots. After about 5 minutes I turned off the car. came back 15 minutes later and it seemed normal, but I dunno what happened to the valet code ?

kinda nervous about trying it again, but I'd like to make sure I know how to use it if I ever do have to valet park
Did you set up Phone-as-a-Key and set your personal door code and backup start password?

Yes, I have used the default door code, and my personal backup start code several times when PA AK fails to connect.

Not that I have found. And the car graciously tells the valet it is speed limited to 80MPH upon start.
Interesting, it might be more in keeping with controlling valets if it limited the car to whisper drive mode and cap the output power to 20 or 30 kilowatts to just limp out of the parking garage.

Yeah it seems more about protecting your privacy (access to data) than speed limiting.

Yes, I have used the default door code, and my personal backup start code several times when PA AK fails to connect.
On my car the valet system works with the 8 digit code ... e.g. 12345-678 where you use the first 5 to open the door and all 8 to start it (and I get a notice in the Ford Pass app that valet mode was activated along with a reminder of what the temporary code AND I also discovered it emailed me with a notification and another copy of the code ... so you're covered in case nobody wrote down the codes).

But I asked the question because I watched a review video by a dealer and when *they* used Valet mode it did not work like this ... it worked the old way where you really just lockout the valet from going through your phone contacts that may have been uploaded to the car, etc.

The speculation was that the "old" way will be used until PaaK is activated and you have door & start codes. I have never tried to test that (I'd have to reset my car to do that ... something I'm not keen to do).

So if you aren't getting the 8 digit code ... it makes me wonder if something isn't completely set up. I don't think this would be a feature that varies based on model (e.g. Select v. Premium).

I had *trouble* setting up PAAK on my Android, but finally succeeded, and did set a BackUpStartCode.... which doesn't have to be 8 characters by the way. Sometimes PAAK works for me, sometimes the BT connection 'drops', but then re-connects if I turn BT off and back on as I approach the car... regardless, I have been using either PAAK or doorcode+startcode for a couple weeks, and leave the fob in the drawer.

I will try using Valet again.... I jumped in this thread because I didn't see ANY valet numbers on screen, or in the email that did get sent.

The behavior of Valet Mode is different depending on whether or not you have the fob in the car when you activate it. If you do have the fob, it doesn't create a start code and tells you to give the fob to the valet. If you just have your PaaK in the car with no fob, it creates a start code for the valet.

Ahhh! Thanks for that bit of info. I normally never have the fob. I did get an RF blocker bag so I could have a key-fob as a backup (e.g. it could be stored in the car without the car sensing its presence when not needed). https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Faraday-TICONN-Premium-Protector/dp/B07MDF5TX9 (BTW, if anyone actually gets this bag, read the instructions ... there are two compartments but only one is lined with the RF-blocking metallic fabric.)

Are there any videos showing how it is supposed to look and behave?
I did a video but it ended up being too large so here are the exported frames that show how it worked for be (code is deleted after you leave valet mode)

I did try it again.... and it DID work this time... I got valet numbers.

I did notice that my MME did not lock doors when I turned off and exited 'as a valet'... because that's how I have it set for myself to avoid beeping in the garage. So, it may be a bit of a challenge in a valet situation to instruct how to lock, and then unlock the door with the code.

The big tip is to be SURE to take a picture of the code, and even better if the valet gets a picture of it as well, because the number does NOT show in the email that FordPass sends you.
