I've carried a fob and PaaK-enabled phone for most of the time I've owned my car and it's been fine. Walk-away lock might be a bit less reliable with that setup, but that seems to be mostly resolved and is easily addressed by issuing a lock command from your phone or fob. (I have my mirrors auto-fold when the car locks, so a quick glance tells me if it's locked.)

As for valet mode, while it sounds like a great idea, many have reported issues with valets just not getting it. Carrying a fob and having PaaK is a much better solution IMO.
I use PaaK and had an emergency and had to take my vehicle to the dealer. I set up a valet code for them as I didn’t want to share my personal codes with them. Worked well.

It has made any difference having both at the same time. The car will open normally and start if you have both, just the fob or just the Paak.

One time, I started to explain the code thing to the valet and he said just park it right there!

I always carry my fob on a key chain that has my house keys in case the NFC/Touch-Screen lock on my front door loses its battery energy, or if my phone loses its battery energy and PaaK is no-op subsequently, or if I can't remember my door-sill unlock code nor the emergency start code on the MME tablet screen, or any combination of all those circumstances.
Hope my fob doesn't lose its battery energy. ?
