Artemis. Since it's Dark Matter Gray, I originally thought I'd choose a nebula name because nebulae are where most dark matter is believed to exist- but nebula don't really have great names (crab nebula? pillars of creation nebula? turtle? bowtie? oooh oooh ooh, what about little dumbell?). Ok, so that was maybe striking out, but there is the Orion nebula - only Orion is a male and cars are definitely female (I'll die on this hill) - so I went with his lover Artemis

So there you go - a little mythology and astronomy lesson for the evening.

I like your line of thinking, mine is also Dark Matter Gray. Ariā Pferd is her name.

Ariā has a versatile meaning along the lines of theory/notion/concept, Aria can also be a female name. Pferd simply means horse. So it works a few ways; with the dark matter theory, the female naming scheme, the 'notion of a horse' that is our mustang, and Ford/Pferd pronunciations can each be butchered enough to sound similar.

I've toyed with the name Rocinante as well. It works somewhat along the dark matter theme with it's pop culture reference in The Expanse and those scifi themes, but it was also the name of Don Quixote's horse, and who doesn't enjoy tilting at windmills from time to time.

When we ordered the car but didn’t have it yet (remember 2021?), I was on the phone long distance with my elderly mother and we got to talking about her next visit. To conclude the conversation, Julie said “..and we’ll have an electric Mach-E to drive when you get here!” To which my mother replied “What’s an electric monkey?”

…and thus, a nickname was born...
