My 24 Premium just bricked with a high voltage battery failure. I have fewer than 10k miles on it. The initial diagnosis was “a high voltage fuse was blown.”

At the moment, “high voltage fuse blown,” communicated verbally, is the only information that I have. Which brings me to my question:

What diagnostic reports should I expect back on the high voltage battery?

I am concerned that the fuse was just doing its job, which is to prevent a problem from becoming a fire. I want the precipitating problem understood and I want confidence that it is understood. To get confidence, I want some logs or a diagnostic report.

The dealership said, “we don’t do that,” so I’m wondering how hard to call BS.

Aside: I’m rooting for the Ford team here. I am a Ford convert because of this vehicle and want Ford to succeed. I want our incentives to align - to share confidence in the company and product. I lost confidence on Sunday and I want it back. Ford could build it back with information.

None. You get no reports. They replace the high voltage battery junction box (if that's what it was), they don't test the battery to my knowledge.

Ug… I thought the HVJB was fixed in 2023 and later?!

I got on the phone with Ford MoCo and they are saying that the dealer should provide some diagnostics, but I can see that I’m dealing with a system that is set up for ICE cars, not EVs.

They said it was a “multi point inspection” and they said the trouble will be on the invoice. I dunno… I don’t care about my brake pads (multi point) and I don’t care that they replaced the “fuse” or HVJB (invoice). I want to know that my battery is sound and won’t leave me stranded again.

I’m willing to be a squeaky wheel on this issue, because if I can’t trust the vehicle, I don’t want it. And I want to want the vehicle. But this stuff is discouraging.

There will be a part number on the repair order that says what was replaced. Post it here when you get it and the community will explain it to you better than the service advisor

You can ask them which Diagnostic Test Code(s) was found. The DTC(s) would point to what the issue is. If they won't give that information to you, you can ask on the FDRS thread for someone with PTS access to pull the DTCs. ??

This community is a big reason why I purchased a Mach E.

Can one pull the Diagnostic Test Codes even after I get the car back in my possession? Like, does the dealer erase them before returning the car?

Thanks for the responses. I’m grateful for any advice.

No, if the dealer repaired the car, procedure is to erase the codes since the car would keep thinking that something is wrong even if it were fixed. If they did repair the car, your warranty receipt should list what they did and why they did it (including the DTCs - Ford won't pay them to work on a car without some justification for the work). ??
