And have you priced one out? You can get a BMW iX lease for less than a Mach-e GT lease lol.
BMW iX Lease: $699
MachE GT Lease: $397

Maybe you found some better deal through a dealer, but that is what is currently listed on their respective websites.

Oh, lol.

Oh, lol.
At the end of 2024, I was quoted $800/month for a 2024 Rally with $0 down, 13.5k miles a year, 36 month term. $61.5k purchase price down to $48.49k after rebates. $5k down would have gotten me to $645/month.

Adversely, I was quoted $743/month on a 2025 BMW iX, $104k MSRP, same term and mileage as the Rally, no money down.

Heads up displays are nice... I liked the one in my Caddy.

I don't think it's hard to make a great $100K car... It's more impressive to me to make a great $50K car.

Wonder how much that "safelite repair" is going to cost.
"Safelite repair, Safelite replace" - I can never get the jingle out of my head. Thanks! :frown:

It’s natural that advanced features get rolled out to more expensive vehicles first, then to us Ford-driving peasants ??.
In fairness, HUDs have come into and out of fashion as a luxury car trial balloon feature for at least two decades or so. Even Pontiac offered one in the early 2000s Bonneville at one point, albeit with limited display items (pretty much just speed). They have tended to be expensive options or restricted to the highest trims, and prior implementations have been…just sort of meh…so they’ve never really caught on as a widespread feature. However, my understanding is several fairly popular Chinese domestic market EVs now come with HUDs, so my bet is BMW is thinking about that market in including a HUD, lest they be out featured in that important export market for them by much cheaper vehicles. I’ve never been enormously impressed with a car HUD I’ve seen in person, so I never get all that excited when another manufacturer floats the idea again.

Agreed. I had one in my 2002 C5 during my first midlife crisis (at 25). Didn’t care for it. But I bet this application will be very advanced in comparison. We’ll see.

It is a good idea, wonder what will happen if it is very bright, or foggy.
Per the article, the lower portion of the windscreen (where they project the fancy 3D stuff) is blacked out.

For a lease? Jeez, that's what my regular payment is.
My 2024 GT’s lease is up there too. For some reason the 4 year lease is a lot more expensive per month than the 3 year. The good thing about that is my residual will be much lower and buying it out will be a lot less. ??

But if Ford were to put a heads up display on the windshield would they put it in the middle or to the side??

The speedo would be conveniently located in front of the passenger, of course!

While Ford is busy taking away our frunk, door presenters, camera washers, parking assist systems, acoustic glass, and even our metal door sill plates, other companies are offering cutting edge technology like 3D HUDs ?
I suggest you buy the Beemer, but better do it quick since the price will probably go up soon

I have a 2024 Lincoln hybrid that has HUD…The windshield is very similar to the MME and it fits fine in the bottom third of the windshield…I don’t see any reason why they don’t add it to the MME…particularly the premium ones

I test drove an EV6 GT-line with HUD recently, and found it to be very distracting, my brain was telling me that was another cars lights in front of me, especially when turning. It would seem that the distraction would be less if the HUD display was lower and off to the right. If it was green rather than white that might help also ?‍♂
