Yup, the Mach-E uses that same exact sensor.

BTW, mine doesn't wipe on startup (with auto wipers on). Perhaps if the sensor is dirty or something it might.

I noticed this too recently, completely dry, sunny conditions with no wind, leaves or debris, and it does this one wipe on startup since about a week ago? No ota updates as far as I’m aware of, except the supercharging update from about a month back.

Maybe it’s just being extra courteous, making sure you have a completely clear windshield, even if it’s as clear as the eye can see???

I always shut the wipers off if it's not raining so there are no random wipes.
Yeah, I don’t see the point of auto wipers being on if it’s not raining.

Pretty sure I’ll notice if it starts raining.

Mine usually doesn't for most of the year but it does much of the time during pollen season.

And if you start with driving backwards, the back wiper does one wipe as well.
That’s a setting under wipers for courtesy wipe or wipe on reverse. Can be turned off in the menu under “vehicles, wipers, courtesy wipe”

Mine does 1 wipe frequently on startup. A little annoying but super love auto wiper feature.

I enjoy that it's called a 'courtesy wipe' more than I should! ?

Can’t beat a courtesy wipe, sounds like some kind of personal service ?
I've often thought about some Ford engineer snickering like a 7th grader when they named that function.

Could have been called “courtesy flush.”
