because you would be getting a 2 year newer car with a new car warranty and 31k less miles for 0nly 10k more. Which you'll get back when you sell it. Doesn't make sense to get the 2021 model. Plus if you lease it, you should be able to claim the 7.5k credit plus any state or local rebates that you may qualify for.
To keep it slightly more real, if they sell it they’re not going to get back pretty much “anything”, but I agree with your core point. Buy a newer car. 30k miles aren’t a lot but they’re also not nothing. I got mine in Q1 2023. And while it was a job 2 2021 GT performance, it was made in November 2021, but not labeled 2022 as it got fitted with all the features they removed in 2022 so they had to sell it as a 2021. And it had 5k miles on it certified when I got it as it was a corporate vehicle never driven. The difference in price if I bought a brand new 2023 was at least $20k back then for GT performance. The choice was obvious.

I’d say if the 2021 OP is looking at were a job 2 but had less than 10k miles on it, then it’s a solid buy. Not otherwise.

21 has those things and the glass the call “Gorilla glass” for better soundproofing. I have one, I do like the hands

yes, in addition to those things listed, 21 has better soundproofing glass, commonly known as “Gorilla Glass” It went away with 22 (cutting costs)

Look up Gorilla Glass. No version of the MME has ever had that.

That's a pretty bold claim.
Depends when you sell. But let’s say the OP decide to sell in 2 years. I would think that a 23 with 31k less miles would fetch 10k more than a 21.
Plus that 21 in this example is overpriced.

I think the premium mentioned is mediocre priced. Based on a quick search, there is a clean titled 19K miles 2021 GT for sale near me at $34K.

Honestly, the decision is personal. You get a newer car and extra warranty with the extra $12K. I will probably go with a used low mile GT though. Depreciation is not linear. After it gets near 100k, It will only worth around $10K on trade in.

Also, Gorilla glass, for sound proofing
Ford never specified the brand of glass. They just said that the front driver and passenger windows were “acoustic glass”. I’m not sure which model year lost that.

Assume that the dealer paid the $24k Options balloon for the MME. Offer less than the $31k.

I would also try for an extended warranty on the 2021 as part of the deal

I think the ESP from Ford isn’t available if the car is older than 36 months old. Not sure if 3rd party ESP’s properly cover EV components.

I bought a 2021 California Route One with 17K miles in September of 2023. One of the best buys I have made in quite a while. Since the car was less than 36 months old (put in service in March of 2021) and less than 36K miles, I was able to by the Ford extended warranty, so I am covered for anything except wear items until March of 2028 and the battery & drive train until March of 2029. With so much technology in that car, the Ford warranty gives me great peace of mind. If the one you are looking at is still eligible for the Ford warranty, then offer a lower price as someone suggested above and go for it! My Mach-E is just now in the shop getting the HVBJB recall done, obviously at no cost to me, but it is taking some time.

As for maintenance, I replaced the cabin air filter myself at 20K miles. The dealer is doing the every 3 years brake fluid change at the same time as the HVBJB recall, but I will have to pay for that service. Tire rotation is due soon, so I may have the dealer do that while the car is in the shop. Oh, and my windshield wipers are about worn out, but I will replace them myself.

We have been enjoying trying the 2023s that seem to still be littering the dealer lots. One dealer has 23 of them, and I noticed they also have a 2021 on the used side. Please help me understand why or why not...The 2021 is a Premium AWD ER with 31K miles for $31K while it seems the sameish 2023 with no miles will run us about $43.5K out the door.

Looking at the Carfax on the 2021 it still needs the 23S56 HVBJB recall fix, and sounds like I should insist that be done before delivery?

I gather I'd have to buy my own Tesla adapter for the 2021.

Anything else? Is there a way to verify the health of the battery setup on a used MME?

Thanks much!

Depending on how long you plan to keep it and how many miles you plan to drive per year.

I would get the 21 if you can get them to knock another $5k off and/or add a 10 year 125k mile Ford extended warranty.

As a reference, I purchased my 21 premium AWD ER summer of last year with 39k miles on it for $29k. It also had a 6 year 100k mile Ford extended warranty.
Prices for EV have dropped significantly since last summer, so I'd expect that 21 to be closer to $25k.

Thanks folks! You have been amazing and I appreciate this didn't start any significant arguments! So many decisions. We expect to put ~8K miles a year on this vehicle so it will become a low mileage instance in the future. I am checking the eligibility for Extended warranty.

I love my ‘23 GT, unless owners are hiding their Mach e, me and the Quick lane manager are only ones we’ve seen in our area, tons of Tesla’s and some Bolts. It’s like every time I’ll pull up to charge people just come from different directions. What kind of car is that? I love that style. Then they go I never thought about one because I hear they’re slow, and I’m like you need to get in lol
