So, understanding the hierarchy of the models, I always assumed the Route 1 was meant to be the highest range, but slightly down level from the Premium (ie no b&o stereo, power lift gate, etc). We ordered this one because we need that range.

Having not really paid attention to HP ratings other than the GT, I was surprised to see the Route 1 has a pretty significant bump over the premium. I would have thought the opposite.

Anyone know the rationale behind that move? Either way, I’m happy to see the extra power and totally overlooked it when considering which model lol.

The larger battery pack gives it the extra HP. So premium Standard Range (SR) is the lower number, the Premium Extended Range (ER) will have the same as your CR1. The CR1 only offered with the larger pack.

AWD also gives a power boost, but only to the Torque number, it is an option on Premium and Select, but standard now on CR1.

Ah, NOW it makes sense. It was quoting against a standard range Premium. Got it. Thank you!

it does not relate to battery size. CR1 shares AWD drivetrain with Premium AWD. So of course it hp boost vs rwd

It does, AWD with ER has more HP and a slightly faster 0-60 than AWD SR. You can see this on the Ford site if you build your own.

Thanks all! Yeah I think the site and some articles were quoting CR1 horsepower since that’s the only drivetrain available, but comparing it against SR RWD premium. So not quite apples to apples, but rather base model vs base model of each trim. Makes way more sense now. Thanks again!

Sorry, you are sort of right. After the 2023.5 switch the SR has a HP boost because it has the lfp battery (266 to 311 hp). It is still slower than an ER (346 hp) when in AWD. In seat of pants feel and acceleration they are still in this order.

ER RWD - 290 hp/311 lb/ft
SR RWD - 311 hp/311 lb/ft
SR AWD - 311 hp/ 428 lb/ft
ER AWD - 346 hp/ 428 lb/ft - Premium or CR1
GT - 480 hp/ 600 lb/ft
GTPE - 480 hp/634 lb/ft

If before 2023.5 and the LFP switch the 311 hp are 266 hp, but the acceleration is basically the same, the battery chemistry is heavier and a bit slower.

Yes, the ER battery has a greater power delivery than the SR, increasing the HP delivered. That is part of the reason the GTs all have the ER battery. Without the higher power delivery, that larger front motor would be hobbled.
