I truly don't understand the hate people have for the mach-e. There seems to be extreme sides of either loving it or hating it with most people being the latter. I've had people tell me it isn't a car, send me mean memes about it being the ugliest mustang ever made, etc. Why? It isn't our fault Ford decided to put a Mustang badge on it.
Tell them to go Frunk themselves.?

Personally haven't heard any hate, but I really couldn't care less if someone thinks "it's not a mustang". The horsey badge isn't what sold me on it.

I have received the same "ugliest mustang" pic from a few ppl now. They all are car people who cling to and adore their slower ICE cars. I forgot to mention. Even now with all the publicity about the power of EV's there's a HUGE percentage of ICE owners that assume their classic/exotic/whatever MUST be way quicker.

I believe a lot of it is what they "feel" makes them think it's fast. Like a muscle car with a big v8 and a lope HAS to be faster and when it's stomped on it feels like it because the thing is so loud shaking so much it's downright scary. I love that as much as the next guy, but I LOVE DESTROYING people with those and then they have a 1000 excuses why that particular time they were slower.

Just reply that my gasoline equivalent is $1.10 per gallon. What do you pay?

I’ve got nothing bad to say about any of the mid-size EV’s. They all have some faults. I don’t care if it may not be a Mustang to some. Makes no difference to me.

So as I wait for my select.
Some people that I work with that know I ordered one, say it goes against god to call it a mustang.
They are dodge hellcat owners. They also hate on the new Chevy blazer.
I think it is just the change in general that they are fighting.
They came from an era when you could change a carb to go faster.
i try to see there points And it not being a coupe is probably the biggest one.
The rest is just ignorance of electric cars but soon I will be driving my pony for pennies while they will be putting $115 a tank In their hellcat.
And on a track their hellcat would eat my select for breakfast.
i will have to see what their comments are when dodge come out with their muscle electric charger/challenger.

I have had multiple people stop and ask me about my Mach e out of the blue. I tell them it is the best built car l have owned, solid no rattles, great acceleration and comfortable with a tight suspension. They tell me the car looks amazing. No one has voiced otherwise. It is one of the few cars that I have owned that brings that attention, along with a Mustang GT, Thunderbird super coupe and a Taurus SHO. The ones that try to pass me on the right have a chance to see my license plate with the iconic mustang rear lights. When Shelby saw the the original Mustang at introduction he thought it was a great secretary’s car. The Mach e is in a long line of car evolution that builds on the past. Those that tear it down are dinosaurs, living in a different time; to each it’s own.

I've had mostly positive reviews, along with two extreme haters. I just say "Evolve or Die!" The haters have been ultra-conservatives who can't handle ANY change. Remember, these types went berserk when the Corvette went from round to rectangular tail lights. "The only constant is change."

Resistance to change isn’t as bad as you make it sound.

The more you like something, the less likely you are to want it to change.

To some people this feels like they just changed their favorite steakhouse into an all vegan gluten-free diner.

It’s a lot of change at once. Electric isn’t really what people seem to reject. It’s the rest of it (4 door SUV).

Had the first Mach E been an electric coupe, the reaction wouldn’t be as large.

Kinda like the Lightning. Haven’t heard any “that’s not an F150” comments. Because it still looks like an F150.

Would we be having this conversation if they called it a Ford Focus EV, but with tri bar taillights, and a snarling from end…? Maybe

I am some would say that's not a Focus, but far far fewer would have that conversation, because there would of been less buzz, less people getting one, less people care about what's a Focus than what is a Mustang, etc...

Focus only goes back to 2012, and the Mustang goes back to 1965 with a much larger fan base.

That said, there will always be some conversation of Why the hate even if less people would care if it was call a Ford Focus EV...

Since one of my degrees is in marketing, I can see why ford chose the Mustang badge. The most recognized names in the Ford line are Mustang and F150. You have a fast car (Mustang) and leader in the truck market. Thus Mustang and Ford F150 Lightning.

What are consumers purchasing? SUV/Crossovers and trucks. Gone are most of the large four door sedans. Same time of the Mustang's intro (Galaxy, Fairlane, Falcon). Anybody remember them?! So Mustang has endured over decades.

If you are to market to the masses and not the two door sport car enthusiast, and have decent performance, why not call it a Mustang?

Those that want the noise, preformance and two door cars, they are available. Corvettes and others are out there, or pick up a used and rebuild it with racing engines.

I've received "it's not a real Mustang" as well. I just respond take one for a ride.

I still enjoy driving my 70 Z-28 which is loud, has 2 doors and costs a fortune to fill the tank (I still use leaded racing fuel at $12.00/gal mixed with Ethanol free gas.

I too did not buy it because it said Mustang. It's just the techie toy I like and looks better that a Model Y.
