I'm going to say they're steel for two reasons:
1) Yes, a magnet is attracted to them. Hard to do that with aluminum.
2) I had a door dent and a hood dent. The PDR person had no problem with the door but said he couldn't do the hood because it's aluminum.
Paint & coating depth reader on door & rear wing (Fe) & bonnet (None Fe)

I can’t speak to YOUR vehicle’s doors, but I can assure you that MY vehicle’s doors are magnetic. Since most steel is magnetic, I’m reasonably sure my car doors are made of steel. If you want to confirm your vehicle, just do a magnet test.
Faulty magnet? Doors full of body filler? Not got an MME?

Some kind of electronic wizardry - had one which measured the coating depths on plastic parts but that cost about £1500 and stayed with the business I sold.

Thanks all. It seems the consensus and actual documentation for my car confirm the doors are steel (the hood is not). I am getting estimates now. It really matches the issue in the CSP even if the location on the door is different. I am bummed but it could be worse.

PDR person is correct on the metals...but there's no reason they can't PDR aluminum. I've had multiple aluminum hoods with dents removed...including a massive dent on my '21 GT's hood from me falling on it. Dent came out just fine.

My dent was caused by a rogue 4x4 post leaping from a garage rafter. Maybe I need to get a second opinion.

That’s how you can tell if the body had any repainted panels.

That's right ? the door is steel and the hood is aluminum. From what I see, all you need to do is clean the door well from corrosion, protect the surface and paint it.

Hope you’re bummed in the American sense not in the UK send of the term????

If you have a trained eye you don’t need one of those for that purpose, I only use it to illustrate in reports that I found parts & panels which have been repaired or, at least, repainted.

Agreed. I spent 8 years in OEM body shops and can see paint and alignment inconsistencies of adjacent cars driving 80 mph on a highway. It's actually a curse, not a blessing

Haha, I do exactly the same.

And also with those car renovation programs when they roll out a so-called renovation of a proper classic and it looks like it’s been repaired with body filler by a plasterer and painted with a yard brush??????

Ever come across Bechtel Classic Motors (based in Germany)? When I'm upset and want to day dream, I go to that website and salivate all over a 1970s 280 SL Pagoda.

No, been working with motors nearly 50 years in one capacity or another and they’re not my hobby as well?

I retire in 69days and never intend even looking at a motoring magazine ever again???

Though I do watch Bangers & Cash and listen with incredulity to the trash spoken for the cameras and the public’s consumption??
