Tesla brought back the M.Y RWD variant (2 new variants due soon with mild interior revamps and a more powerful rear motor). Also in the works version 2 of the M.Y (juniper). The new models and lower prices are really having ford scramble again. The new motors reduce manufacturing costs $1k/each, thus dual motor models see a manufacturing cost reduction of $2k/per. The new traction inverters are less expensive to produce, but no cost given. The move to 48v LV architecture requires 75% less copper reducing costs further.

All of these changes reduce the cost of vehicles while adding a few features. They've found ways to reduce the cost of motors while making them more powerful. The M.Ys new motor is from the cyber truck dev. Curious to see if they split their motors into 2 variants now instead of just one, particularly with the M.3 and new M.2 having different requirements than heavier / larger vehicles.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear they've gone a similar route with the CT, borrowing what they did with the semi. On the semi they have an efficiency axle and a torque axle. When torque is required, both the torque axle and efficiency axle is used. Once cruising the torque axle decouples and spins down. It's got 4 of the same motors, 2 per axle, but the gearing is different on the axles and thanks to gearing reduction and thus torque multiplication, power delivered to the ground by each axle is different. Pepsi is achieving a fleet average of 1.7kWh per mile due in part to being able to not even needing the service brakes on steep grades, enabling the motors to handle the braking alone. It's pretty interesting to see that just 2 of the motors powering their standard vehicles have enough power to keep a semi at speed.

Ford really needs to up their game. It's nice to see their new rear motor being put into the rally mach-e as well as all 2024 lightnings getting heat pumps.

I'm not showing any incentives around here. Here's what the pricing looks like in M.Y vs comparable MME...

The M.Y is eligible for the full $7,500 tax credit making it $38,130 (all fees, no taxes)
It can also option the tow hitch for $1k and can tow 3,500lbs

$38,130 + taxes / registration

Vs the comparable MME premium at $45,690, a $7,560 Difference!!
Only eligible for $3750 tax credit. $2450 in BS fees - come on ford

Ford has an uphill battle. While I'm not interested in the catfish cars, this right here is a huge difference and cosmetics aside, is REALLY easy for most buyers. That's leaving out the charging mess and heat pump differences. The MMEs resistance heater can really suck down the juice. Both vehicles have LFP so no advantage there.

Is it really a deal when the $9250 is deducted from an inflated GTPE price of $73k?

That's not actually inflated depending on options. Heck I'd actually consider a new GTPE for $64 and the tax credit.

Really? Wow.

I'm guessing that 2024 order banks will open soon so Ford is discounting the MY 23s.

What are the chances Ford Credit brings back 0% financing like they were offering up until 10/2? Prices were too high for me before. Today I'm starting to see models near me with deep discounts but financing is back up to 7%. Hoping for the combo of low price and low/no interest!

The dealers don't care about the order banks, they would like all the pre-summer '23s off their lots lol. My local dealer was kind enough to 'Wave most of the ADM'. on a car built in Feb 23. Gee thanks.

Keep in mind if you're looking at a 2023, it's nearly a year old to KBB and NADA values. Discounted a little, depreciated more.

Yeah, guess how I felt in 2021 when I ordered my car in May and a 2021 model year was delivered to me the last week of December 2021, 2 weeks before the switchover to the 2022 model. Things have sure changed.

My points is that the opening of '24 order banks will add pressure to dealers to clear out the '23s from their inventories.

My point is, they’ll want to clear out the already year old cars that never sold. Which means they’ll depreciate more when people don’t want a year old brand new car. ‘Deal’? On paper. When you go to sell it’ll be the beating us 21/22’s are already suffering. And if Ford slashes prices on the 24’s following someone getting that brand new 23 for $10k off? There will be 20 posts about how fast these car devalue. Just look back on here for Feb to Aug.

anyway, good luck, get the color you actually want with the features you want, don’t settle. And drive whatever it is you want to buy for more than 10 minutes on glassy roads.

How far do you think a MY will tow 3500lbs if it’s already at 260 mile range? Pulling 3000 lbs with my hybrid Lexus cuts my mileage in half.
