Was looking for some replacement parts and stumbled across this:

No idea how or why we’d need this, but what caught my attention is the Vehicle Compatibility list:

Ford Mustang Mach-E 2026 Mach-E to drop Mustang from name? IMG_0895

Looks like some of y’all be getting what’s asked… no more debadging/rebadging!

I know I’m in the minority, but I’ll be missing them ponies. It’s part of the cars history after all.

What I’m most curious about is the 2026 being listed entirely separate from the rest… does that point to major refresh, along with name change?

If so it would be a wasted effort.

Mazda tried this years ago with the Miata renaming it the mx-5.

It didn’t stick. They stuck to their guns for a long time too (2006-2015), but people never stopped calling it a “Miata.”

People are kinda stubborn that way. You can try to give yourself a new nickname, but it doesn’t usually work the way you want.

It seems a lot of people already just call it Mach-E instead of Mustang Mach-E.

But I think it would be weird to remove all the Mustang logos from it at this point without a complete redesign.
Yeah, that was my first thought as well.

I believe in most of the rest of the world it has always been called MX-5.

I'll be honest, when people ask me what kind of car it is, my first answer is always "Mach-E".
And my answer is an Electric Mustang !!

It's due to cut backs at Ford /S. They removed the parking assist and the foot operated lift gate as well.
