25S65 Recall, go to dealer or wait for cloud download version?

I made an appointment at my dealership for this recall upgrade tomorrow, but I hate the bother of going in and then returning for pickup. They didn't offer to come to my house and I didn't ask because I didn't know that is an option some places when I made the appointment and they are closed today.

Should I cancel the appointment and wait for the automatic over the air download?

That’s up to you and your risk level. Some anecdotal reports had techs saying the patch is too big for OTA, but that’s been challenged by knowledgeable folks here. There’s no indication when itll be an OTA. IMO, best to just get it fixed, maybe coordinate with an upcoming maintenance (10k, 20k, etc).

Ford has not announced when the update would be going out OTA. If it follows a similar path as the HVBJB software recall, it should trail the FDRS availability by approximately 3 months. It might be more time. It might be less time. We just don’t know. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ©

If you have kids or are concerned you might accidently lock someone in without being able to open the door then get the recall done.

If not, or you have a relatively newer 12v battery then don't bother.

Certainly, San Diego has mobile service techs to do it at your home.
They never offered, but I'll call them in the morning. We are a little bit out it the sticks.

My dealer didn't offer either, I requested it. They're coming tomorrow to do it.

My dealer said no mobile service for this because it could take multiple days to complete and offered me a non EV loaner. WTF?

They called my a made an appointment to my house took 45 min and so far so good. I notice even through the update was for the 12V battery, they upgraded other modules as well. I feel the drive and handling change a little bit but for the better.

To clarify, if the occupant can pull the mechanical handle, they can exit.

It only took 45 minutes at my dealership. I just waited in the customer lounge.

I can now schedule service online in FP with my local dealer, until recently it just told me to call to schedule. Mobile service is one of the options listed. Hopefully this is something being rolled out broadly but guessing it requires each dealer to do some work to support.

As I understand it, this recall is a SAFTEY recall so refuse or wait after you have been advised to have the patch installed will be at your own risk if something happens and you try to make a claim. (A "S" in a recall stands for SAFTEY - Yours)
