I hope this is not a bad omen. I took possession on Thursday. Four days later it would not start in parking lot. Somehow got it started and all sorts of alarms going off. At home took off ground to battery which cleared the codes. Drove it, parked it and again would not start. This time for good. Battery at 80 percent. Tested the 12 volt and it was 12.8 before driving. This time I could not get it to start and had to get a tow truck. In dealership now. Everything lights up but when I push on the button with the brake pressed it just chimes away. Any suggestions?

Hi Wayne, Send me a DM including your VIN, Dealership name and contact details. I'd like to escalate this so we can assist your dealership and get you back into your Mustang Mach-E.

Reject it, this happened to me, spent weeks in the shop died several times, I rejected it and had a replacement which I had no issues for 12000 miles before upgrading to my current GT which has had no issues so far.

Have the dealer fix it, that’s what the warranty is for. Not much else you can do.

Hopefully it’s just a dead 12v from sitting too long on the lot in the winter. If so- easy fix and nothing to really worry about.

Still a frustrating experience on a brand new car.

It could be something really easy to fix and then you not have any further serious issues again for many thousands of miles and years of ownership.

My personal opinion is that your concern shouldn't be whether you got a lemon or not, but rather do you have the good fortune of having a knowledgeable tech addressing the issue. Statistically speaking, lemon Mach-E's are pretty rare. But techs with Mach-E savy might be just as rare?

Most just harvest codes and then defer to Ford for advice.

I had a problem with symptoms like yours in my 2024. The fix was simple, covered under warranty, and I was fortunate to have a good dealer. It has been trouble free since.

Like yours, mine had weird codes and then died. It had 12 volt warnings. Its final words were “Stop Safety Now.”

It turned out to be a 50 amp fuse in the High Voltage Junction Box. WHY it blew is anyone’s guess. The tech suspects that it wasn’t seated properly when assembled or they it was just a bad fuse. I will never get an answer to that question.

They replaced it and been great since. Hoping you have a similar experience.

It is unnerving, though…

The MME is my first electric vehicle, so “50 amp fuse” wasn’t in my vocabulary. I had no experience to inform me, so I had no idea if it was a big deal or not. Turns out… not a big deal (for the car).

For me and my day, however, it was a big deal. I was miffed that my transportation appliance wasn’t functioning and that it took something like four attempts to get a tow truck out to me. Ford kept dispatching crews, they would call me for details, I would say “electric” and the crew would ghost me. The fourth crew had no problems (I guess they are more skilled?).

I’m over it now, mostly because after that problem, it’s been so trustworthy.

It's hard to say without knowing what the messages were. In any case, the dealer may have it fixed up for you in short order, and you'll be able to drive on. The MME has proven to be one of the most reliable cars, and hopefully, you'll have a similar experience.

Similar things can happen in an ICE car. My Expedition died in a parking lot one day and it was just one of the relays in the fuse box that went bad. Replaced relay and now everything works as it did.
