Something similar happened to my 2.5 day old 2022 back when I bought it in March 2022. I'm nearly certain it was just that the 12V battery was too low, not helped by the fact that the car was delivered to me with 6% on the HVB and I only had 120V charging at home at the time. The dealership addressed everything (for free, of course) and provided a loaner too. Those problems never came back. It is likely the 12V battery. It might be dead, or it might just need a good long deep charge. (Obviously it could be other things instead, but IMO the most likely is the 12V.)

It is at the dealership now. They think it is the battery 12 volt. Problem now is that the car is sitting on the lot and they are waiting for a battery. When asked they said they ordered one from Ford Canada and so far have no idea when it will be shipped. A bummer not being able to drive your new car because of a battery. It is under warranty but if I have to wait weeks I would rather pay for one.

Common problem, so the battery should be there from the warehouse in hours at most. I'm surprised they don't have one in stock.

Turns out batteries are severally back ordered. I found one at another dealership and ran out and bought it. Turns out there might be more wrong with it. High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) could be the culprit that drained the battery. One has been ordered. This looks like quite the big deal to replace. I am wondering if a made a big mistake buying the Mach E. Contacted the dealership I bought it from to see what they would give me on a trade in for an Explorer. They offered $9,000 less then I paid for it.

Many if not most of us have had the HVBJB replaced. It’s covered under the 8 year, 100,000 mile EV warranty. You’ll likely be fine once this ordeal is over. I’d definitely drive it before taking an instant $9K hit.

Sorry to hear about that. I would have thought HVBJB issue would have been resolved with the changes back in 23 or so. I had mine replaced in the original 21 I had (after more than a month in the shop) but reliability as far as the battery pack etc was much better after that. I would not take a $9k loss for a replacement.

The HVBJB is in the battery tray so the HVB battery needs to be dropped to replace it. I'm surprised that a 2025 failed right out of the gate, but count this as your initial glitch. 3.5 years on my 2022 and the HVBJB has been the only thing that failed on it. Trouble-free otherwise.

Stick with it.

It sounds similar to my problem, which was also in the HVJB (see above). I also had a “maybe this was a huge mistake” moment. Like I shopped for other used cars. If you look at my past posts you get a whiff of my panic.

Most of my feelings had to do with the new vocabulary in the problem. If it had been an explorer, and the tech had said “alternator” of “fuel pump,” I would have been mad, but not worried that I’d made a terrible mistake.

Here’s the community helping me:

Turns out that it was a big deal for Ford because they designed the HVJB as a “battery out” repair. And the dealer who didn’t diagnose it correctly. Whoops 😬. For me, with the benefit of hindsight, it was a few anxious days in (oddly) a Ford Explorer loaner. It has been trouble free since. And I found a better dealership.

I’m so glad, for me, that I kept the car. I was not a fan of the explorer by the way. You need to make a decision that works for you, but don’t rush the decision.

Reading through this thread it seems that way too many MME are being delivered with depleted 12v batteries and hvb at under 10% charge. My experience was similar. I picked up my 25 AWD premium six weeks ago. The dealer had to put on the charger for a couple hours so that I could make it home. That evening it displayed "full accessory power available" and would not go into any gear. After charging it overnight I got it back to the dealer. The tech couldn't replicate the problem because charging overnight had charged the 12v.
A week ago charged to 100% and saw 270 miles instead of the expected 300 mile range.
It seems that the dealers haven't read the MME owner manual that recommends charging to 50% before long term storage of up to 30 days.....presumably to keep battery degradation to a minimum.
Has anyone else out there seen a new MME that was missing 10% of it's battery capacity at delivery?

My 12v battery story is different. My car was received by the dealership in mid August 2023. I bought it in March 21, 2024. The dealership replaced the 12v battery about two weeks prior to my purchase. I know this from a carfax report. The battery replacement occurred at the time I was beginning to make inquiries to dealers, including on the car I bought. The salesman had the foresight, I’m sure, to see if the car would actually work. Obviously the 12v battery was dead so they proactively replaced it. The car has been fine. I love it.

It's been in the shop a long time. Hopefully you get it back soon!

Sorry for the late update to everyone. I booked holidays before this whole fiasco and just returned a week ago. I hate to say it but I caved. I made the company take the car back. They refunded me the whole amount and I put it towards a 2026 Ford Explorer Platinum. I put in a Charging Unit in my garage for $2,000. I had them cover that and supposedly I got a good deal on the Explorer. As you know there was not a battery to be had in Winnipeg and they had no idea how long it would take to get one. So I bought one from another dealer and delivered it to the one that had my car. Then they said there were a bunch of codes coming up and that they would have to change the HVJB. The good news was that they found the part in the States and it wouldn't be long to get it. Then I received a call from the service department telling me that Ford Canada has not recognized that the car has been sold because there were some recalls that were supposed to be done before selling the car. Therefore there was no warranty on the car because it wasn't supposed to be sold. That's when I lost it. Take the car back or I'm suing. What a terrible buying experience. I have to say that I am really disappointed that I do not have the Mach E. For the 3 days it worked I loved it. I loved the technology and right now I sure wish I had an electric car. I guess the dealer did all they could to satisfy me but overall one would have thought that Ford would have fixed this problem as it looks like this has been going on for a while. I was looking at the Hyundai Ioniq Line of electric vehicles but I really liked the look of the Mach E and figured since the Mach E has been on the market for 5 years Ford would have fixed the bugs and have a pretty good stock of parts,

What a fiasco. Sorry to see you go, but I’m glad you were made whole. Depending on your buying cadence, maybe we’ll see you again..

You’re brave swapping a Ford for a Ford after that experience! Hope the explorer treats you better that the Mach-e.
