Anyone tempted to switch to BMW iX3 or Volvo EX 60? If so which one?

I'm going to test drive both then decide whether or not to trade in my lexus 450h+ PHEV for one.

I suspect, having owned a few BMWs over the last 10 years that it will be a better driving experience.

Both are high contenders for me when my lease is up in 2028. Will have to see what the final cost is in the US and reviews etc. Also Rivian R2, potentially R3 by then, and Scout are on the short list.

But as we’ve seen just in the last 6 months, there’s lots of time for big changes to happen in the market by 2028, so will just have to wait and see what the future brings.

I just started my 3 year lease, but when its up, if I decide to stay with an EV, I’ll probably look at the iX5, assuming its out by then, and whatever midsize SUV Lucid comes up with. Volvo has a little too much Chinese involvement for my tastes.

I'm in a similar boat, though in my case it's 2030 when my extended warranty ends. I've had several Volvos over the years and I likely would still have my 2018 XC60 if I'd bought the plug-in hybrid version. But I've no plans to ever go back to gas, and the EX60 and Rivian R3 are definitely on the list of contenders - the Bimmer might be too, depending on lots of details. (Same for every car on the list, of course...)

They both show real potential. And the Caddy Lyriq V, too. The sticker’s gonna be a little high for me but the future is bright if I’m on the market for a certified pre-owned in a few years.

They are both comparatively heavier and slower, the tradeoff with more capacity

the Bmw is beyond ugly. Ex60 looks decent; less Frankensteiny than others I’ve seen

Volvo ADAS is not particularly good, whereas Bmw’s is competitive. Coming from an older Mach E it might even be superior, but Blue Cruise 1.5 on the 2025+ Mach E is top tier in the US, behind Tesla. That is because it has good hands on lane centering for unmapped roads, as does the Bmw when optioned

Speaking of ADAS, I will go FSD + something; probably a Ford off roader and maybe a gas BMW or Porsche. If Mach E successor continues to have competitive ADAS and is fun to drive I will definitely consider it

I haven’t driven the Volvo. But based on experience with my wife’s i4, I would probably go for the BMW

My next car will likely be an i5 M60

Looking forward to hearing some reviews of the Rivian R2. I guess there have been press reviews, but there is still an embargo.

Well, I pulled the trigger coming back to EV and I’m waiting probably six months since it’s coming from Germany. I ordered the BMW 2026 i4 xdrive M 60 pretty much loaded out.
Doesn’t have a frunk, butI like it does not have the traditional trunk lid. It’s more of a hatchback.

I'm not looking to change my ride. However, I have some experience with the Volvo XC60 T8 (my wife's car).

It rides very well, 7 of 10 on my personal scale (Mach E Rally is 8.5 of 10 for me). It has a lot of room for people and gear. It's well appointed, but has a very clunky UI (she tells me her Escape w/Sync3 was better). It runs like a scalded cat when you need it to ;-}

I would expect the EX60 to meet or exceed that experience.

I've not driven a BMW since 1978, so I have nothing to add to that point.
