Not as much as you might think. Here are two differences, though, that can be discussed with no danger of thread lock. Cause we know that will happen.

1. Chinese authorities are about to implement a rules restricting 0 to 100 km speed in BEVs in their lowest performance mode. New cars must also default to that mode every startup.

2. Chinese authorities are extremely concerned about 1pd. As they seem to think that people are relying in it too much to bring cars to a full stop and are just letting the cars roll past a stop point. They also think that 1pd causes people to forget how to use a brake pedal or that a brake pedal even exists.
Interesting! Btw - headed your way on Saturday. But only to Maui. And leaving the MME at home.

Many new EVs are coming up with some impressive range. AS, noted in my original post I have preordered the BMW iX3. Encouraged that it came in number one in this real lift test:

Interestingly the Volvo EX60 doesn't seem to be in the list of tested cars.

Well, congrats and good luck the only reason I switched to i4, was there was no negotiating the lease amount for the IX. It was pretty much 1300 or more and they had an i4 that they were able to get shipped over from Texas, and pretty much cut the lease amount in half. They had a lot of room to negotiate since it already been ordered and was in the states although I only get 300 miles to a charge. I don’t need cause I don’t travel. And the other day I was actually over the charging station just testing out the electrify America account that comes with to see if there was any quirks. It worked better than I’ve ever seen at work than when I had my Mustang. But there was a guy with the EV nine and he said I wouldn’t even know that’s an electric car if you didn’t tell me, he said it just does not look like an electric car I said well I don’t know. I guess that’s a good thing. I don’t know.

A Ford dealer told me today that Ford is rethinking the 27 MME battery in light of the 300-400 range competition coming out later this year or early 27. Could be interesting.

Yeah zero chance that’s actually happening.

There’s no way they can fit a bigger battery without re-engineering the whole car and all their development money is focused on the new platform right now.

Energy density is changing fast, so it would be possible to fit a ~120kW battery in the space of the current ~100kW (gross capacities) that would be +20%, potentially getting a 384 mile range on the rwd...
Of course battery chemistry and weight factor in, but more trivial than one might think.
And solid-state batteries might push the limit even further...

I would love to see this. I really like my Mach-E, but if they continue down the path of 200-220 real world range, I can't see myself purchasing another one.

This would be good news, although once again Ford would be following and not leading. I read recently that Ford is only one of the few US car companies who’s making a really BIG jump in its stock price by working on batteries not necessarily for cars, but for other purposes, like Tesla. Maybe that work will also help them design better batteries for cars.

Yep. Dealers barely even know jack $#!+ about the current cars, much less Ford corporate’s future plans…
Yeah. No kidding.

@ChasingCoral, @Mach-Lee and I toured Ford’s Skunk Works in Long Beach last month. Ford hasn’t settled on the final configuration of its upcoming midsize UEV truck yet. The idea that dealers are already being briefed on a 2027 Mach-E with 100+ extra miles of range strikes me as “optimistic.”

Range doesn’t magically appear. You get it through better battery chemistry, lower weight, better aerodynamics, improved efficiency, a much larger battery pack, or some combination thereof.

The first four are possible. The fifth starts heading into Chevy Silverado EV territory, with battery packs roughly the size of Mauna Loa.

I was at the Nissan dealer turning in my 24 rogue and they had a couple of new ones in the showroom. I just wanted to show you guys here it’s the latest for the rogue. The white one looks like a Mitsubishi outlander. It’s their new plug-in hybrid, three row rogue at first he said take a look at the new Electric one and I thought all Electric and he said no it’s a plug-in hybrid.
That's no accident - the Rogue PHEV is just a re-badged Outlander!
