It's Ford, it's the Phone, it's Apple, it's Google, it's user error, it's the weather. I can see it now... Sounds like we better get used to the FOb and call it a day...

Let's face it. Technology has a way to go. We'd like to think it is further along and more reliable than it really is.
I still plan to give Ford the benefit of the doubt and will act like PAAK will keep working fine. I'll leave the fob at home and use my phone with the codes as a backup. I'll see if my trust is misguided.

However, I plan to trust but verify. Resetting and re-connecting PAAK requires having the fob and the permanent door code. When we travel to FL in a couple of weeks, I assure you that the fob will go with us!

I attribute it to the app personally. I really think there is a disconnect between the teams working on the car electronics and the app developers. It's not Apple by far, but I am optimistic that the bugs will be worked out in time... It's software after all. :)

I've exclusively been using PaaK for the past week. I get the best results when holding my phone in my hand and placing it in the tray under the display. With it in my front pockets, the door "usually" will unlock but I get an error to the effect of "key not detected" until I take it out of my pocket. It may have something to do with signal strength or proximity.

But, if you use your fob, it can stay in your pocket. seems like a pain to need to remove your phone to make the door open reliably. I like the PAAK idea but it has just not been reliable enough for me yet to choose it over the fob. Maybe that will change over time.

Approaching the car with the phone in my hoodie pocket works great. Back pocket of my jeans, not so good.

I have even found the car's response to the fob underwhelming when the fob was in my pocket. I haven't tested using the fob as much but I even had it fail until I pressed the unlock button when I went for my first test drive.

Technical term is "Butt Blocking"... Or, more PC version: Body Blocking.

Sorry if already posted...

Phone As A Key, does it work on Bluetooth or NFC? If NFC it needs to be really close, Bluetooth can work over much greater distances but that has many disadvantages.

I have also experienced this issue. I think many of these issues are related to their bug with the android 11. Not sure if apple users are also experiencing this issue. I'd say its like 85% reliable. There are a couple times I get through the door and it won't let me start the car. As you mentioned earlier, restarting the app fixes the issue.
Android 11 has been out since September 8th, and in beta for months before that. I can't believe they didn't have an Android 11 phone anywhere on the development team to test this - if it really is just an Android 11 issue I think that's even worse than being a general issue. The exact reason the OS has a published beta is to allow everyone to get ready for mass rollout.

My understanding is that it was/is actually an issue with a recent update to Chrome, as far as the hardwired AA reboot goes.

The Wireless AA issue is with the AA app itself. Google has already released a new version to fix it, which should be slowly rolling out soon.

Are you folding the mirrors on the vehicle when you park or pull into the garage?
Yes, the mirrors always fold, the projection lamps just never turn on. I'm not sure if they only turn on when it's pitch black out, or maybe they don't work well with PaaK. I've only seen them once, and I had my fob at the time.
