Afternoon, all!
Just recently took the plunge! Had a 2024 F-150 Tremor that I got back in December of 2024 that I absolutely loved, but after a few weeks of nearly 5.00+ a gallon for gas, and having a 60 mile round trip commute, I just couldn't justify the payments and the gas costs. Anyhow, a little over a week ago I traded it in for a 2026 Mach-E GT (race red)! Have 400 miles on it so far, and absolutely love it! Got the panoramic window on it, and really like the wheels on it! Just got the floor mats from Ford for it (like literally an hour ago LOL) and while I have the front OEM splash guards, waiting for Ford to ship the back ones. Thinking about getting black lug nuts, and maybe even doing pinstripes at some point. Definitely liking that the cost of driving to work has gone from over 20 dollars a day down to under 3! Will be putting in a level 2 charger in the near future, as now that I have this, my wife wants to trade in her Honda Passport for one!

Anyhow, for those who've had one for a while, how do you know if how you're taking off at lights is adversely affecting tire life? I know that's one of the biggest surprises (from what I've heard) coming from an ICE, and I want to maximize tire life but still enjoy driving it. Is there some way using the battery usage meter to gauge it or is it just something you get a feel for and have to find out when you wear the tires out the first time around?

unless you're flooring the gas pedal at lights, you shouldn't worry about the wear on your tires. Just drive, normal, and accelerate gradually, like with any car, electric or gas.
Enjoy that level 2 charger when you get it, and remember that you DO NOT have to charge to 100% unless you're taking a longer road trip.

Tires! I have an AWD select. My factory tires lasted 30k miles, I was hard launching from 0 a lot, and cutting it sideways on some turns. My 2nd set are over 30k miles now have a few years left (per the guy at my annual inspection) I basically switched to easing off a light then punching at say 5mph. Your GT probably still spins, but in general ease into your start then punch. Its also better because this way you can see the ICE next to you accelerate hard, start to pull away, THEN you punch and blow by.

As long as I don't see smoke emanating from the rear, nor hear the squeal of rubber on asphalt, I'm not worried about my tires.

With AWD it's pretty hard to get them to break free anyway.

I use the Butt Dyno to tell me if I'm using too much power. One gauge that might be useful it the My Trip app - if you never get better than 2.5 Mi/kWh, you might be pushing it a bit hard. Sometimes I'm getting 4+; other times I don't get better than 2.

Just got my 2025 Mach E Premium (used) and I'm loving it. It's my second EV (I had a 2021 Model Y).
My Tesla needed new tires at 25,000 miles due to damage that could not be repaired still had plenty of miles left on the tread, though I was told when I purchased the Tesla due to the weight it would go thru tires quicker.
I've had the Mach E for about a week and I like it better then my Tesla. I do miss a couple of things, 1) The card as a key to back up the PAAK and 2} no start button (in the Tesla put it in gear and go) and 3} when you open the door the car turns off, again no button to push. Other then those 3 things I think the Mach E is far superior, I would like to see Apple Watch as a key feature in the future.

We don’t have true, complete PAAK in UK but Apple Watch locks/unlocks car, can start Climate function and do other stuff, do you get all that in US?

Thanks all! The info is much appreciated! Sounds like if I drive it like the 2017 Camaro I had alongside the Tremor (also recently sold), then i should be ok with the tires. That had a tendency to eat through tires, too, and it took a while to get used to take offs to keep from tearing them up. Once I got the Mach-E, the quality of the interior and performance of it made the Camaro an expensive superfluous secondary car.
Now to decide if I want to put a paint protection film on the front and behind the wheels, and if I want any pinstripes!

I rode with a guy once and almost got sick to my stomach due to how he drove. He would put the accelerator pedal to the floor on takeoffs and slam the brakes 100 ft. before stopping at a stoplight.
I was told long ago to drive like there's an egg under the gas pedal and brake like there's an egg under your brake pedal. Everything will last a lot longer if your nice to your equipment.

Lol well, I used to do that, but it was with the cars I had in high school and early college... '84 Buick Skyhawk wagon, '85 Ford Tempo and an '87 S-10 work truck. Had to floor them to get them to move since none of them had above 100 HP 😆 Buick only had 80! Don't miss those days at all. Ha!

Ummm, don’t do that! Seriously after a few weeks you just start driving it like any other car.

Maybe if you are retired! My MME is over 4 years old, I still drop the hammer multiple times every time I drive the car. Its why I am sticking with an AWD Select vs a GT! Too easy to get into trouble! And I am mid-40s!

After four plus years of ownership, the thing that saved my tires and brakes (didn't have to replace either yet), is the one pedal driving feature.

People who had the GTs with the Summer Ultra High Performance tires on them had fast tire wear from taking off hard (the low mileage record for replacement of drivers on the forum was close to 4000 miles). I drove mine mostly sedately and hammered he heck out of them a bit and got about 16K miles on them on my 2021. Some people drove like Grandma and got around 25K miles. So, just like with any other car just take it easy on the tires and they'll last. 😁🐩

After four plus years, I wonder what has saved my tires and brakes. I’ve never used One Pedal.
