Cannot pair LiftMaster 3280 with car garage door opener

Hey guys,

I am failing to pair my new Mach-E with my LiftMaster garage door opener.

I attached a picture of my system as well as the instructions I am following. I tried both options and it didn't work.
I did a full reset of all the remotes and paired back one of my remotes (to double-check if the instructions indeed work, and the remote works) but I am failing to pair the built-in remote in the visor of the Ford.

Did anyone succeed with this LiftMaster model? What am I doing wrong here?!

Did you follow the Homelink instructions in the MME owner's manual? It's two steps. You have to program a visor button with an existing remote first. Then you have to use the Learn function on the opener motor to sync the rolling code with the freshly learned button.

Did you program a Homelink button with your remote before trying to pair it with your opener?

It's not the same. It has to be two steps: the first step involves the car and the original remote. The second step involves the car and the learn button.

It's worth noting that the product description of the bridge repeatedly mentioned Security+, which is also on the cover of your LiftMaster manual.

So I’ve got a maybe somewhat unique Homelink problem. I have two Craftsman Garage door openers.

I was able to use my universal garage remote from my old car to program one of the two doors to homelink in the MME. Fortunately it’s the door I primarily use.

But for the other door, I can’t use the remote to program the Homelink button because the universal remote only emits a short burst signal for that door. The signal is sufficient for the opener, but not long enough to program the Homelink. I have no idea why it works differently than the other button on my remote for the other door - maybe it’s going bad.

So I tried using the learn button method on the opener itself, and that ain’t working, either. I press the learn button, then within 30 seconds (closer to 10) I press the Homelink for two seconds, then for another two seconds, then a third time etc. it doesn’t work.

Any suggestions?

The learn "method" isn't a separate method. It's part 2 of the process for garage door openers that use rolling codes for security. If your current remote doesn't transmit long enough to program a Homelink button, you'll likely have to find another remote that does. Maybe buy one and then return it when you're done?

he may be right on that. I tried with an off brand remote and it wasn’t working.
I digged up the OG one and could pair.

I also have a lift master garage opener. From your Mach e, follow the Home link instructions. Make sure you clear the memory in the car, then program as instructed. Good Luck

Well ok then. I'll either need to buy a new garage door opener or move. I think the originals are long lost. I'm only half joking about the move part. There's a 50/50 chance we make a housing change this spring, so I may just not screw with it. At least I got the primary garage door linked.

While continuously holding the HomeLink button that you wish to program, repeatedly press the original remote's transmit button.

Then when the HomeLink light starts rapidly flashing, go to the door opener motor and put it in learn mode. Then return to the vehicle and press the HomeLink button two or three times.

I will try that. Thank you. But honestly, I didn't need to use the learn button on the opener when programming the other door, so hopefully I shouldn't need the second step for this door, either. It's the inability to get the remote to send a long continuous signal that seems to be my problem. Maybe repeated short bursts will work.
