I am also having trouble programming my car with my garage door opener. Of course, my garage opener is ancient.
What generally works for me: Instead of pressing and holding the garage door opener remote, press and hold for about 2 or 3 seconds, release and press and hold again for 2 or 3 seconds and keep repeating. Some remotes stop sending the signal after a few seconds when you press and hold.

Also, the lightbulb on some garage door openers can interfere. Try removing your lightbulb temporarily while you program.

I actually did the above suggested with the remote in the car and then hitting the learn button on the opener and it worked right away!

Most garage door openers can only handle so many codes (previous vehicles). You must clear the opener if you reached the limit. I noticed this when I received a new vehicle every 3-4 months for work. Someone clued me in to this issue.

I have older rolling codes, have had several cars linked to them quite easily, but my new one can’t seem to link. I reset the opener by holding the learn button down 10 secs until the light stopped flashing, then tried again, nada? I’m actually trying to link 2 different cars to 2 different openers, both reset, neither linking, I don’t get it.

Oddly enough my very old Liftmaster paired fine while my new, smart Chamberlain has yet to work. My side of the garage is the old one so I haven't bothered getting the other side to work. Particularly because I can still open it with the app on my phone.

One day everything will just work right? 😉😁😜

Actually, they should knock off the oldest codes in this situation. That's why after programming something you need to check every other remote, car, and keypad to make sure you didn't kick them off.
