I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 V
Android version 9

I'm not sure how to check the version of Bluetooth, but all the 'regular' phone bluetooth features connect just fine.... Never have been able to get PaaK to work, my phone is never recognized as a Key, so I never get a 6 digit Backup Startcode, so I have no spare key or way to start the car if I lose the Fob.... ;(

I did order a spare from CarAndTrucks , and will find a dealer to program it, but I am pissed off that I have to go to all this time and expense to obtain a spare key.
I looked up your phone. You have Bluetooth 4.1 (so not up to spec). But also your phone was launched in June 2015 ... so it's nearly 6 years old. To use Phone-as-a-Key you're going to need a newer phone.

I don't think bluetooth is the problem.... all the BT functionality works just fine; all except PaaK.

Just tell them you bought it from Ford.
well.... I think they are objecting because they KNOW I didn't buy it from them. Even though it looks exactly the same.... I am likely going to have to make the drive to the next closest Dealership which is about an hour away.

That's pretty ridiculous of them. They can look at the Ford part number on it and see that it's an OEM part, regardless of where you bought it. It's not like they could sell you one even if you wanted to get it from them since they're out of stock. I guess your best bet will be to go to the next closest Ford dealer. At least it will give you an excuse to go for a drive in the MME.

First off... it's clearly not a 3rd party key. And second off, even if it was, how does that violate the warranty? I would be pretty insistent that they be able to explicitly show me where it says that in the warranty... unless you wanted an excuse to take an hour drive in your MME.

It's gotten to the point where it really pisses me off.... probably 5 or 10 hours I've spent (wasted) on non-functional PaaK, $99 to buy a Fob, and probably another $100 to program it on top of a 2 hour trip plus waiting for programming .... all because I can't set the Backup StartCode since PaaK doen't support my phone.

and I'm wishing there was SOME way that Ford could sanction a 'bad Dealership'. I'm trying very hard to remain positive about Ford, and the MME is fabulous to drive, but having no love or trust for your Dealership is not a good thing if and when any updates or Service is required 'at a Dealership'.

I just got back from my dealer having my two new FOBs programmed. I told them I'd been checking their stock everyday for the past month (which is true) and finally found a dealer on the Internet that had them in stock and managed to get them ... but I just needed to get them programmed.

They were happy to do it.

Cost was $108. They didn't care that it was 1 vs. 2 ... they said all the work is in using the key-programming machine to pull the codes from the car. Once the programmer has the codes, programming it to a fob is quick and they can two in pretty much the same amount of time as it takes to do one. So there's was extra charge for the 2nd fob.

It took about an hour ... but I think they had a car ahead of me so part of that time was waiting for them to finish the car ahead of me.

Could you borrow somebody else's phone just long enough to setup PaaK and set a backup start code? I assume you could uninstall the FordPass app from that phone afterwards.

Did you buy your Mach E from them? If you did, I would think they'd bend over backward to please a good customer. They are just mad because you purchased from somebody else and they want to stick it to you. The warranty thing is ridiculous.

The warranty claim is ludicrous. It's not a 3rd party key, it's made by Ford.

Say the key fob costs 100, the dealership makes at most 50 when you buy it there, probably closer to 25.
Say the programming costs 100.
So the dealer chooses to NOT earn 100 because they could not earn 150 (or less)?

Places like this should wither and die, looks like they are doing their best to speed things along.

I bought my spares from CarAndTruckRemotes.com.

My dealer did not bother to call me back to quote what programming would cost and none of the local locksmiths could program it. I called twice (Friday and Monday).

That being said, I called a dealership 40 miles north of here and they said they would program both additional key fobs for $60 plus tax.

Drove there yesterday and they programmed the keys and were very professional about it.

Good luck, there are dealers out there that will do their best to take care of you.

Hopefully, you have not yet received the post-purchase survey so you can let them know what you think about their harsh (and incorrect) position.
