What about the batteries is extremely complex? LiPo technology is well established. The battery pack is just a bunch of small cells connected together.

A battery has no moving parts which makes it inherently more reliable.

In 20 years the youngest generation will laugh at how unreliable, stinky and crude ICE cars are and be amazed their parents actually used such contraptions to get around.

Wow! Are you serious? You really do not understand why making cars in Mexico makes huge financial sense for Ford in selling MMEs in Europe? Are you that Tesla-ed?
Because they don't plan to phase out gas cars in Europe until they are not legally allowed to sell them anymore? And what's Tesla have to do with it? You mean Ford wants to be issued some of those really valuable emission credits too? Should we back out the value of those credits from Fords earnings to get a more "realistic" picture as to how profitable they really are without the credits being counted?

Mine has yet to be built, but my understanding is yes you can precool/preheat the cabin from the app with remote start.

Some who have taken delivery can likely verify.

Complexity being a negative is another strawman argument. A $20 Intel Celeron CPU is magnitudes of order more complex than a battery. Yet they crank them out by the millions. Complexity is not bad if it's manufacture can be automated with a low defect rate. What's complicated is the manufacture and machining and surface hardening and assembly of ICE engines and all the support equipment they require (compared to the inherent simplicity of an electric vehicle).

This principle is well-established and well-understood. Enough with the silliness.

Mechanical complexity, with a lot of moving parts to wear out, is a bad thing. That's why it costs so much to keep older ICE cars reliable.
