You will want to get the rear glass tinted a little darker or put a sun shade in it for your dogs. They will get warm from the heat off the glass and there are no air vents in the rear hatch area.

My Springer Spaniel fits in the rear hatch standing up with it closed so a whipit will have no problems.

The only thing I will point out is that the MME's boot lip is *very* high. Older dogs are going to struggle, and unless you get something like a Boot Buddy you're going to have scratches all over the back bumper from the dogs' claws.

Can I ask if you are from a warm state? Is this something I'm likely to see in the UK?

Much appreciated. My dogs are young (for now) and I'll only have the car for 4 years. I'll definitely look into a boot buddy.

I've got my Tesla test drive on Saturday and I've finally found a Mustang test drive next week.

I live in the edge of a desert. It is 104 F (about 40C) here today. It will be 111 F tomorrow. 114 F Sunday. At those Temps the inside of the car gets hot no matter what the color is. A good thermal reflective film will be helpful for your dogs in the rear if it is a sunny day.

Thanks. That gives some context. I'm in Wales. We don't get much over 20degC on a good day. I'll definitely keep it in mind though as it's not something I've had to consider with the vertical glass on the back of my RAV4

I found a cargo area protector that has a flap that you can fold out over the rear to protect the paint.

But I agree about the height. For older dogs put down part of the split backseat and let them enter the cargo area through the back door. Then you can flip the seat up and they are secure in the back.

This is pretty much what the Boot Buddy is. Is it a good fit, and do you have a link?

The Ford liner has a fold out protector. That's what I'll be getting when my car arrives. And it's designed for the MME so it fits!

Ah we've ordered that too, and like everyone else it's on back-order.

Depending on your dogs, they may be able to clear the back of the car just fine. My Miniature Poodle could clear my lifted 4Runner’s tailgate and my Blazer’s tailgate without issue wearing a wet suit and a shock collar until a pretty advanced age. It’s still a good idea to have some sort of alternate plan though.

I will definitely be getting some sort of bumper protector, but not for the dog. It’ll be for me when I’m loading groceries in.

We've got 4 dogs. 2 small ones go in a cage in the boot and 2 others on the back seat. They would all fit in the boot, but I wanted 2 in a cage for transit. I also got the heavy rubber mat in the boot and it collects a lot of the hairs.

Agree about the lip, but you should be ok till they are older. One of ours is an Old English Sheepdog and size isn't an issue.

Ciao!
Speaking of dogs I'm wondering if you some of you owners have managed to divide the truck in two half, right and left side.
I would like to dedicate the right side to my dog and the left side to my luggages without the risk of the luggages falling on my dog or my dog eating my luggages.
Is there a net or similar that can be installed in the mach?

For some reason this is the only car in the world my dog is terrified of, he'll literally jump into any car. But I have to pick him up and put him in the car for this one. Not sure what it is, maybe I was overly protective the first time and traumatized him, or maybe it's the giant screen. But he's terrified by this car.
It may be caused by high pitch sounds humans have difficulty hearing. I have three dogs (All rescues) and only one is bothered by high pitch sounds. I know the Mach-E has more EMF than a regular ICE vehicle so that may be the issue.
