Why is this safety feature not available? The software coding
for this is simple and found on most cars now available.
Please include in the next update or at least explain the reason
for exclusion. An accident in reverse is reason to question Ford's
judgement on this.

I've never heard of this as a safety feature on any car (certainly nothing I've ever had or driven).

If you've had some misfortune then you have my sympathy. I do have some reservations regarding the comment about "Ford's judgement". Ford can't control driver behavior. Safely operating a car comes down to driver's judgment and responsibility.

If the car moves and steers under the driver's control ... then that's on the driver, not the car.

These modern cars are now equipped with backup noises they make for anyone outside the car, back-up cameras for the driver, and proximity sensors that are meant to detect cross-traffic and obstacles (combined with backup emergency braking). These capabilities are not meant to replace driver responsibility ... they are meant to supplement what a driver can see/detect in the hope that it will make the car even safer than a car that lacks those features.

The radio mute on reverse, like the backup screen, are obvious, good ideas. Do we need them -- no. But, they are a good idea... and almost all car manufacturers today agree.

What are you guys talking about? Muting the radio when the car is in reverse or reversing the mute of a radio?

If you are talking about muting the radio when you are in reverse maybe it should not be so loud in the first place.

When in reverse with the sensors sending the beeping to the speakers, the radio definitely gets quieter until I put the car in park. Every Ford I've had with reverse sensing does it. Our '21 Subaru does the same thing, and a lot of rentals I've used do too. I've never been in a car that cuts the audio out completely while in reverse.

Please provide a list of cars currently available in the US that mute the audio system in reverse. I have never been in or even heard of one.

The MME has this feature now, with two ways to activate it:
1. Turn the big dial on the main screen all the way to the left.
2. Hold the volume down button on the wheel.

Reverse these procedures to turn it back off.

Yea... no thanks. Reducing volume below the beeps, sure. But mute completely? Nah, don't want that.
This would work for me. Just yesterday I was backing out, heard something like a horn and realized someone in the space across from me was pulling out forward at same time. And my sensor hadn't picked it up yet.

You can also press the screen in the middle of the round dial. It's not labeled correctly but will, in fact, silence the radio.

That said, I've always instinctively turned down my music/radio when reversing if I feel it's too loud, but I think I'd be rather annoyed if the car did it for me.

Some of us aren't perfect. If Reverse can disable/enable some features, reducing volume while in reverse, say to level at just below the backup chimes, isn't a big ask and may not be a big lift for the developers.

Does that button really act to mute? I don't have an MME yet, but when I test drove one I couldn't seem to figure out how to mute the radio other than the "rest of the world way" to just turn it all the way down.

This is the only thing I could find in the online manual
Ford Mustang Mach-E Radio reverse mute 1628540614389
