Some of us aren't perfect. If Reverse can disable/enable some features, reducing volume while in reverse, say to level at just below the backup chimes, isn't a big ask and may not be a big lift for the developers.
Sure, as a toggle-able option in the settings, I have no issues with it. But there were probably about 1500 more things I'd personally prioritize for the software group.

Please provide a list of cars currently available in the US that mute the audio system in reverse. I have never been in or even heard of one.
I did a quick Google search and it seems to ave arrived in the 2017-18 models. But not all cars.

Most forum posts were complaints about it.

So is this "desired" 'feature' for the owner or someone else? If it's for the everyday driver, is think just turning the radio off and waiting until you're on the road works better then having to configure this.

If it's for someone else, maybe it makes sense to add to My Key settings...

It does duck the audio for certain warnings including reverse beeps. My 2014 Ford Fiesta also did this. I think it's pretty common now.

Sure, but I didn't notice any appreciable change to the music volume the other day and may keep an ear out for it. It's not something I would toggle on/off vs just let the car reduce it since I don't go around much or spend a long time in reverse.

Also, while I don't want to over-rely on the safety tech, yet (or at all), backing up did not alert me to the car behind. There may be a blind spot in the sensors or a threshold I hadn't yet reached. It's the second time I had to stop quickly while backing w/o receiving any warning from the car where I reasonably thought it would occur.

i agree, out of all the big deals in my life this is not one of them. If it muted on reverse there would be complaints that it muted in reverse. What are the benefits of mute on reverse? How much would it cost to program and test? What makes it a safety issue? if we change it what priority should it be? Waiting for the first real OTA. This forum will light up! I can already hear it, why did they do this and not that, they should have never changed this but instead changed that.

As someone else mentioned, the radio does, in fact, get significantly quieter when I shift to reverse. Also lots of cars do this.

Sort of related, the a/c also slows down the fan speed if you are on max and take a phone call to lower the ambient noise.

I don't understand why this is even a wanted feature? It lowers the radio volume when the sensors beep front or rear, so is there any other reason to mute the radio? I would just get pissed off at this feature and turn it off.

Update: I was out earlier and paid a little more attention. Music vol lowered briefly for the backup chimes then returned to setting. And was inconsistent activating when switching to drive then back to reverse. So, an imperfect implementation for an imperfect driver. But I won't be returning my MME over this.
