The dealer has something called a "Vehicle Visibility Report" (if the salesperson doesn't know how to use this, the dealer's inventory manager certainly will know). The report tells the dealer where the car is located. Even if the car is loaded on a moving train ... the train will pass periodic "check-points" and shows show up on the report (so they wont know precisely where the car is located ... but they will know the last checkpoint that it passed.)

The car goes through a series of rail carriers and car haulers. Each of these can only track the car when it is within their system.

Hey, thanks for this link. Even though it didn't help the OP I didn't know about this tracking site and my VIN headed to Denver shows up with them too.

If vehicle visibility doesn't say it is waiting on a repair, etc., maybe a transportation company lost it (i.e. it is just parked in a back lot somewhere and somehow everyone forgot about it). Your dealership should be able to help escalate it with Ford to find it or have a new one built.

I ordered The first of May and have heard nothing.
Gonna be 4 months next week.

You won't get your vin until it's scheduled for production. The dealer can supply the VIN then.

Considering the first GT was just delivered and the person reserved November 2019, your May order is late to the game. You can expect it this fall.

@YearofTurkey once Scotty hit Delaware Vehicle Visibility didn't update because it was loaded onto a carrier truck from there. That's what happened in my case; I got a dealer stock unit from Ted Britt Chantilly. Vehicle Visibility had it in Delaware on June 10; I took delivery on June 14th. Hoping this is the case for you!!

My dealer could only tell me that they have 6 on order....Mine being the first ordered, and one other of those 6 has been built and awaiting shipping

I wouldn't accept it at all without a really believable story. Something is way off here. I'd be very leary of this order. maybe it was damaged or something.

Thanks for posting all that. The main thing I was concerned about is that it had somehow been sold to someone else. But it definitely seems to still be in transit to the dealership.

So, it took over three months to get from Kansas City from Mexico. And it has now been over two months since it was transferred from there to Birmingham for transport on Norfolk Southern. I think your parents are wise to be leery about the vehicle's history at this point, and I think they should inspect it carefully. Who knows, it may have been something minor that caused the delays, but it doesn't hurt to be thorough. I'm sure the dealership will also make sure everything is in order as well.

Hopefully it will finally arrive at the dealership soon despite it missing another delivery date. You might want to ask the dealership to get a Vehicle Visibility Report which might provide more details of where it is right now.

Exactly. That shows that the railcar (number given) carrying your car arrived at the Port of Wilmington station. It took a few days for mine to get to the dealership from there.
